00:50What's the challenge that awaits your characters in this final season?
00:58I think story-wise, they're dealing with the swell of sort of what's been building for two seasons.
01:08As an actor, there's also the jump of skipping ahead four years in time and then filling in
01:17those blanks, which we all talked about a lot before we started shooting.
01:23Yeah, I think, I think for Jeremiah, there's, there's, he's kind of like, he shows his emotion on the sleeve.
01:36And I think, you know, there's those who show their emotion on the sleeve, those who are more internalized.
01:42And I think both of which you kind of grow in this life, trying to figure out the best, most
01:49loving way to respond to all of those feelings and thoughts and events.
01:53And in the best, most loving way possible.
01:57And I think Jeremiah is kind of on his, he's on his journey of figuring out how to love people,
02:04how to just love people well.
02:07Love himself, you know, you know, love belly and all these things.
02:15How does it feel to be in one of the most passionate triangles on TV?
02:23I mean, I feel fortunate that that people care about the show that we're in.
02:28Yeah, because there's so much that comes out these days.
02:32And a lot of it goes unappreciated in the way that it deserves, you know, I mean, every piece is
02:39made for a reason.
02:40And for some reason, people care about these characters.
02:44So, I mean, we're really lucky in that way.
02:48Wait, what do you think is the secret that other teen shows, young adult shows, doesn't have the same attention
02:57as The Summer I Turned Pretty?
03:00It's a great question.
03:02I think Jenny would probably be able to answer it best.
03:07Yeah, I mean, she is part of the reason.
03:09Yeah, she is the reason.
03:10I think, you know, I think making it relatable is a huge key.
03:21Yeah, it's a huge key.
03:23It's super critical because if you can't relate to any of the characters or, you know, you create characters that
03:29are not necessarily realistic,
03:32it can kind of actually take you out of that fantasy versus, you know, making it real, bringing it down
03:40and kind of getting back to the roots of people and, you know, emotions and morals.
03:46It stays pretty grounded and I think it's sort of grounded in these relatable, identifiable feelings that humans have or
04:00tend to have.
04:01Yeah.
04:02So I think that's part of it.
04:03Yeah, especially these days where there's, it seems there's not much time for anything at all.
04:12Yeah.
04:13Is there a teen drama that you grew up with and maybe in a way inspired you for these roles
04:19other than the books of Jenny?
04:24I mean, so many. What did I grow up like really loving?
04:29One that stuck in your heart that it's important for you?
04:37Ferris Bueller has always been really important to me.
04:39I think that's one of the, it's one of the first movies I ever loved.
04:43One of the first movies I ever watched multiple times.
04:47And, and I do, I remember being invested in sort of the love there and the comedy of that.
04:54Tonally, obviously it's very different from our show and it's not a love triangle and whatever.
04:58but I mean, I think to, to go into doing this stuff, you know, to go into acting, you have
05:05to have loved it before, you know,
05:08and have felt that, uh, being drawn to somebody's work.
05:13Yeah.
05:14Or a piece of.
05:15Yeah.
05:16I mean, I would say, um, I would say getting to look at other love triangles from an external perspective,
05:26you know, like Jacob and Edward and, and, and, um, Ian and Paul, uh, um, what was it?
05:34Stefan and Damon.
05:35I think getting to look at, you know, Twilight and, and the vampire diaries and different things kind of,
05:41it allows you to understand why characters love certain characters and different things.
05:47and, uh, it just gives you more of a broader, more well-informed perspective of, um, appreciating the characters and
05:54loving the characters
05:55and really kind of building from those other, you know, love triangles that have done so well.
06:00You see what works.
06:01Yeah.
06:01Yeah, absolutely.
06:02Or even, even, um, I don't know, uh, like a Pride and Prejudice, like is, you know, a classic.
06:09It's so good and getting able to like pick, like, you know, why, why, what characteristics do you love about
06:14these characters
06:16and, and that kind of draw people to appreciate them is, is, um, good.
