Pachinko - Stagione 2: intervista alla protagonista Minha Kim.
Trascrizione
00:47alcune similità tra me e Sanja.
00:50I started with that, but every single scene in the scene,
00:57I was amazed by how strong she is and how brave she is.
01:02And it break my heart that she is confronting all these difficulties.
01:10So, while I was preparing for this role and getting involved,
01:14I got really emotional.
01:16Like, it was not something, it's just not about the character.
01:21Since I feel that I was connected to her,
01:24I felt very authentic and just genuine about her whole universe.
01:30So, I was very honoured to meet her, really.
01:34It was such an honour to meet her and, you know,
01:38get a chance to portray her.
01:39And what was the second question?
01:42If you think that she can be, for us, a role model?
01:47Yes, of course.
01:49I think she's…
01:51Because I'm sure there's a lot of Sanja all over the world.
01:59And for a very long time, my grandmother was my role model.
02:03And I figure that she is another version of Sanja.
02:06So, I think all over the world, Sanja does exist even nowadays.
02:14So, yeah, she's perfect for the role model.
02:19In this season, Sanja's mother tells to her grandchildren to never forget that they are Korean.
02:27But what do you think that Pachinko shows to the world about Koreans?
02:34First of all, I think it was a rare experience for them to accept the, you know, Korean history
02:43and history about the Korean Japanese, you know, the historical fact.
02:51And that we've shown a lot of food, the meaning of food and about our clothes
02:58and about our language and all the immigrants.
03:05By showing them, I think people got a new concept of Korea because, first of all,
03:12it was K-pop and K-drama was very, you know, very famous for contemporary art.
03:20But we were talking about our history and how we were rooted.
03:25And that might seem very interesting to them.
03:29And I think that's a story that more and more people should know.
03:32And because I personally think that the individuals of our stories are the stories that we should not forget,
03:41that I should not forget. So I'm very happy that people get to have more chance to know about the
03:47Korea more deeply.
03:49During World War Two, women became so central for the economy of their countries all over the world.
03:56Do you think what the second season show is also a first step for them away from patriarchy?
04:04Because I think about, without any spoilers, I think about Sun Jha and her dream in this second season.
04:10What do you think about it?
04:13I mean, like, it's an amazing thing that Sun Jha has her own plan.
04:19And she just know how to move on.
04:23And she's just, you know, very flexible and smart enough to really protect her family.
04:30And even if it was not World War Two, she knows how to do it.
04:35Because she's confronting all the, you know, incidents that she's facing.
04:42But, yeah, she has her own plan.
04:46And it's all for saving herself and her family.
04:51And the reason why she is that independent and solving the problem is that she knows that protecting herself is
05:03the way to protect her family.
05:06I think that resonated.
05:10And it just gave a great chemical.
05:17One of the aspects I love the most about the pachinko is that the show takes its time, but it
05:23never wastes it.
05:24Because the writing is really brilliant.
05:27As an actress, how does it help you?
05:31About the writing?
05:32The writing.
05:33I think maybe when you have a good script, everything is more easy.
05:38Of course.
05:41I don't think it's, well, yeah, the script and the original novel, our script, were beautiful.
05:51And I think the beauty of well-written script is that every time I read the script, I feel the
06:00different emotions.
06:01And so I can draw different pictures.
06:07There's, like, a big spread of my imagination.
06:13So which, on set, I can try a lot of different things.
06:17Because they're always open to the new reactions and about my instincts.
06:24So, yes, it's just, it's like, I'm always fascinated by our script and how it really attached to me.
06:35It's just not about making it easier, but it's just helping me to make it deeper.
06:42Thank you so much for your time.
06:43It's been a pleasure.
06:44I think you are amazing.
06:45Thank you.
06:46I love the show.
06:47Thank you so much.
06:48Thank you.
06:54Thank you.
06:58Thank you.
