00:00Maya Rudolph is heading to Broadway. The Saturday Night Live star is set to make her Broadway debut
00:05in Oh Mary, taking over the role of Mary Todd Lincoln in Cole Escola's hit comedy. Rudolph will
00:10begin performances April 28th for an eight-week engagement running through June 20th. She's the
00:16latest in a lineup of stars to take on the role, which was originated by Escola. In a statement,
00:21Rudolph joked, ever since I was a little girl, I have dreamed of being Cole Escola. Oh Mary is the
00:26funniest play I've ever seen, and I have seen a lot of plays. You'd be surprised. It's such an
00:31honor to play the role of Mary, especially after so many iconic Marys have come before me. So making
00:36my Broadway debut in the role of a lifetime as a miserable, suffocated, alcoholic woman is a real
00:42dream come true. The play reimagines Mary Todd Lincoln as a wannabe cabaret singer with a heavy
00:46drinking habit. Escola won a Tony Award for their performance in the role, while director Sam
00:51Pinkleton also took home a Tony. Meanwhile, Rudolph is currently starring in Apple TV's
00:56Loot and voices Connie the Hormone Mistress on Netflix's animated series Big Mouth. And the
01:01hit comedy isn't slowing down. The Broadway production has extended its run through January
01:053rd, 2027. O'Mary first opened at the Lyceum Theater in July 2024 and now also has a West End
01:12production, with a North American tour set to launch in Hartford, Connecticut in September
01:162026. For more updates on this story, be sure to head over to thehollywoodreporter.com.
