00:00It's time right now, brought to you by Reliant Air Conditioning for some baseball nuggets.
00:06Also, we just did some extra content for Dallas Card Show.
00:11Check out their socials.
00:12And again, we'll be there tomorrow in Allen, 777 Waters Creek Boulevard at the Marriott.
00:19Your nose all right?
00:21Yeah, it just itched.
00:23All right.
00:24Yeah, check out that video.
00:25I feel like there's some fun stuff in there.
00:30All right.
00:31So Alec played the clip.
00:33Thank you very much, Alec, for that.
00:35Vinny Pasquantino had not one, not two, but three home runs for Team Italy.
00:42A couple of things.
00:43He was 0 for 12 in the World Baseball Classic going into yesterday's game.
00:48He had the first ever three home run game in the World Baseball Classic.
00:53And this is the first time, per Vinny himself, he has ever hit three home runs in any game of
01:00his life.
01:02What?
01:02Oh, really?
01:03That's what he said.
01:04Okay, well, that's good.
01:05You know, that's cool.
01:05That's a really great opportunity.
01:07Would you do this, Corey?
01:09The Hall of Fame asked for his bat, and he said, can you hold on a few days?
01:14Oh, yeah.
01:15I want to finish using it.
01:17I'm with you.
01:18Remember Corey Seager's bat?
01:19He used that sucker that whole season, and then I think it broke late in the World Series, maybe.
01:27It may have been something weird in the ALCS.
01:29I can't remember exactly.
01:30But he had that black bat with the ring on it, and we were asking Bo to be like, hey,
01:35how much pine tar is on that thing?
01:37And he's like, it's got to be, it's a 32 ounce.
01:40It's got to be 38 right now, just a pine tar alone.
01:43Right, right.
01:43And that was, so yes, it is your lucky bat.
01:46It is, what did Homer call his bat, Kevin?
01:49Wonder bat.
01:50It is wonder bat.
01:51You don't, if your bat is good, you don't let it go.
01:54Now, here's what I want to say about this.
01:56The first one shouldn't have been a home run.
01:58Oh.
01:59The first one, the right fielder.
02:01It's the first one of his career.
02:02You're taking it away from him?
02:04The first, the right fielder should have caught it.
02:07Okay.
02:07It was like, he, he, you know how you take shots at Evan Carter for jumping too soon?
02:14For the record, though, we went over that with him.
02:15He goes, I didn't need to jump.
02:16This guy jumped wrong.
02:18Like, he just, his, his glove missed it.
02:22He should have caught it.
02:23It was a ridiculous, it was up in the air forever.
02:26It should have been caught.
02:27The second one was a no doubter.
02:29Like, that thing, that thing was, it went over the foul point.
02:33That was the best one.
02:34That one was, that's a, that's a glorious moonshot home run.
02:37And then the third one was, like, he forced that one out.
02:41Right.
02:41You know, the second one was perfect swing.
02:43Everything went right.
02:44The third one was, I'm making sure this one gets out.
02:46But that first, it should be two.
02:48I'll give him credit for three, though.
02:50But it should still be two, because that first one should have been caught.
02:52It does feel like it would be harsh if you took away his first ever three-home run game.
02:57All right.
02:58Let's talk some more about Team Italy, though.
03:00Because they had to call up another catcher to replace Kyle Teal.
03:05You remember Kyle Teal the day before, one of the people who hit a home run against Team USA.
03:10And most importantly, out of all of that, with the victory, Italy won 9-1.
03:17The United States advances into the quarterfinals of the World Baseball Classic.
03:22And believe it or not, they are once again the favorites to win the World Baseball Classic.
03:28Even though, going into last night, they did not control their own destiny.
03:33They are now the favorites ahead of the Dominican Republic, which has leapfrogged Japan for second place.
03:41Dominican Republic has been really good.
03:43We'll get to that in just a second, but one of the things I wanted to talk about is,
03:48do you feel like the World Baseball Classic has hooked you in, has hooked the people in,
03:52because that USA-Mexico game drew 5 million viewers.
03:58That's an increase of 215% from that game in the last World Baseball Classic.
04:09Can I ask you a question?
04:10Oh, that's a no.
04:12Yes.
04:13I saw somebody post this the other day, and it really, like, I can appreciate both without having to shut
04:20down one.
04:21Okay.
04:24When Roman Anthony hit his home run the other day, somebody posted, and they're like, look at this.
04:29He just puts his bat down, runs to first base, doesn't dance all the way, and it was very act
04:37-like-you've-done-this-before kind of post.
04:40And, again, growing up, I was like, hey, man, like, that's how I would probably do it.
04:46Yeah.
04:47And now I watch these other cultures and other countries and the way they celebrate the game.
04:53I'm like, that's how they do it.
04:55That's fun.
04:56Why do I have to diss on it?
04:57Why do I have to S all over it just because it's not the way that I would do it?
05:02And I think that, like, you can look at this game and how awesome it can be and the excitement
05:08that comes with it,
05:08and you can respect all of it.
05:10Yeah.
05:11I think that's part of it.
05:12But I understand, too.
05:13There was an epic bat flip yesterday.
05:15Oh, Fernando Tatis' moment yesterday was phenomenal.
05:18And for me, Kevin, that's sucking me in more with this.
05:23That's hooking me even more and pulling me to the game more because not just theirs, the differences of all
05:32the countries.
05:32I love that because I don't know why they celebrate it the way they do.
05:36They do it because it's supposed to be fun.
05:38We do it because it's business.
05:40We're here to win.
05:41Especially in a high-stakes scenario like that.
05:44I get it if somebody's bent out of shape in the second inning of a May game.
05:48Yeah.
05:48But, like, this means so much for some of these players.
05:51I like it.
05:52So, 877-881-1053.
05:54Can you respect pimpin' home runs and not pimpin' home runs?
05:58Or?
05:59That's a great question.
05:59And how would you do it?
06:00Would you be like, you know what?
06:01I'm taking the longest home run trot.
06:04I'm making sure that my...
06:06I'm letting all my teammates in on this thing before I get to first base.
06:10Now, since we were talking about the Dominican Republic, Fernando Tatis Jr., six hits so far in the World Baseball
06:19Classic.
06:20Two home runs, nine RBIs, five walks.
06:24Six hits and five walks.
06:27He's been incredible thus far.
06:29And so now, the stage is set for the quarterfinals, which will include Canada.
06:35They defeated Cuba 7-2.
06:38They're in the World Baseball Classic quarterfinals for the first time ever.
06:44Should we start getting concerned about Canada?
06:47You know how we...
06:48Like, now we've taken over their sport.
06:50Right.
06:50Are they trying to take over our sport?
06:52Because Toronto was in the World Series last year.
06:55That would suck.
06:57Toronto has more World Series championships than the Rangers, don't they?
07:00I mean, that is true.
07:02And Canada's a 25-1 right now to win.
07:05They have the second longest odds to win the World Baseball Classic to South Korea.
07:10But I am concerned.
07:11So the matchups go like this.
07:14On Saturday, you get Japan and Venezuela, Italy and Puerto Rico, because Italy won their pool.
07:21And then tomorrow, you've got Korea against the Dominican Republic.
07:25And at 7 o'clock, the United States against Canada.
07:29And so, kind of based on that question, do you feel like America is going to be tuned into this
07:35game?
07:35I know Friday night can be tough, but it's U.S. against Canada.
07:38I am, too.
07:39I already told Adrian, I was like, just be prepared.
07:42We are spending our evening watching this game.
07:45So, yeah, I'm already locked in on it.
07:48Because America has some amazing players.
07:50They do.
07:51This is one of those things, too, where you're like, hey.
07:54Yeah, somebody says, hey, don't do pimping in high school in Little League.
07:58Pros in college, maybe that's okay.
08:01I can appreciate that.
08:03Have some fun with it if you're a kid in a big moment.
08:05Home run should be fun.
08:07But, yeah, Kevin, I've already told her,
08:10I want to watch some of the best players all on the same team at the same time.
08:14This is fun.
08:15And it's exciting.
08:17And I just want to see how Paul Skeens looks at Bobby Witt Jr., you know?
08:20Even if he's not pitching, I just want to see if he's just like,
08:23I'm still just in awe of this guy.
08:25But, I mean, to your point,
08:27it does feel like it would be a cruel twist of fate
08:30if we took hockey away from the Canadians
08:33with back-to-back gold medals in the span of, like, 48 hours.
08:37It'll never happen.
08:38And they responded by defeating us in the World Baseball Classic.
08:42Good luck, Canada.
08:43That would definitely kind of bum me out.
08:46Come at us, bro.
08:47Okay, the winners advance to the semifinals in Miami.
