00:02I am from the south side of Chicago.
00:05That tells you as much about me as you need to know.
00:10It was a typical working class community.
00:14Some good music, some good barbecue, some good times.
00:19She's just a girl and she's on fire.
00:22So little of who I am happened in those eight years.
00:26So much more of who I was happened before.
00:32In high school, your guidance counselor didn't see in you what you saw in yourself.
00:37She decided I was reaching too high.
00:42How did you, as a black woman, persevere?
00:45We can't afford to wait for the world to be equal, to start feeling seen.
00:51I feel like I got to share with you all that the energy that's out there is much better than
00:56what we see.
00:57How's everybody doing?
00:58This girl is on fire.
01:02As my mother would say, Michelle and Barack Obama aren't special.
01:07There are millions of Michelle and Barack Obamas all over the world.
01:12If we can open up a little bit more to each other and share our stories, that's what breaks down
01:18barriers.
01:19Wow.
01:27I am becoming a strong, confident, fierce girl who realizes that I have the power to change the world.
01:43This is totally me, unplugged for the first time.
01:48Thank you.
01:48Thank you.
01:50Thank you.
01:51Thank you.
01:57Grazie a tutti.
