00:26So my favorite character is Charlie Brown. I just love how he gets back up every day from
00:32getting knocked down. I think from a performance standpoint, in terms of just fun, I love Snoopy.
00:42He's funny and he's a lot of fun and he's very expressive. So I find there's a lot of comedy
00:51in him, but from a pure character standpoint, I love Charlie Brown.
00:56So Peanuts are known and loved by everybody, mostly. Is it difficult to approach such important
01:05characters as opposed to working with original creations like Ice Age characters?
01:11In this case with Peanuts, it is very difficult because we knew how much everybody loved the
01:17characters and so we knew we didn't want to screw it up. And so they put a lot of pressure
01:22on us. We were very excited for the project, but we knew that we had to get it right. So
01:27it was difficult in that regard. It was what we call a passion project, you know, put a lot
01:33of heart and soul into it and to get it right.

01:49How does the technology of 3D change some characters that were born in 2Ds?
01:58For Peanuts specifically, translating it from 2D to 3D is extremely difficult because you
02:05don't really get any of the benefits of computer animation trying to achieve the drawings that
02:12Charles Schultz created. We really wanted a handcrafted feel for the movie, so in a lot
02:19of cases we kind of had to break the computer to get what we wanted out of it. It does
02:24give
02:24you a lot more in the way of depth of color and detail, like Snoopy has fur now, so a
02:31lot
02:31of, you know, a lot of people seem to really love that world kind of rendered in a higher
02:36fidelity, but it still feels like the same strip. It still feels like the same television special.
