00:04What is it exactly you do for an event?
00:09John Dillinger loved banks.
00:12John Dillinger had better weapons, faster cars, and could outrun, outgun, and outthink law enforcement.
00:20If there was any one time to be a criminal, it was then.
00:23Let's go to Chicago and make some money.
00:25In terms of weaponry, Dillinger had an unlimited arsenal.
00:31And Dillinger had the Ford V8, which the cops did in the house, so there was no catching them.
00:36It was one of the fastest cars of its time, and Dillinger used it to its fullest extent.
00:42Which one of these here cars is the fastest?
00:43That would be that Ford right there. It's got the new V8.
00:46We're going to take that one.
00:46That's Sheriff Lillian Holley's personal car.
00:49Good.
00:49The running board was a huge deal because he would line hostages up along the side of the car.
00:55Hence, the police officers would not start shooting at innocent bystanders.
01:00They would outrun them because most of the police officers at that time were still driving six-cylinders or four
01:05-cylinders.
01:06And then they would drop the hostages off outside of town and then continue on their way.
01:11Dillinger wrote a letter to Henry Ford telling him he made the best goddamn getaway car in America.
01:17The spring suits are jammed twice.
01:20For the most part, I was carrying a couple of 1921 Thompsons and a couple of 45s.
01:27We did have quite a bit of training with regard to the Thompsons especially.
01:31A lot of people make a mistake and they think that the Thompson is simply just fired straight from the
01:35hip, which is not the case at all.
01:37It is a rifle and you do sight it.
01:39So it's not just a kind of, you know, it's that.
01:43Prohibition against agents routinely being armed has thankfully been lifted.
01:48Because back in the 1930s, not all agents were provided with handguns.
01:53Many agents bought handguns.
01:55So there was more diversity in weapons than there is nowadays.
01:58Law enforcement in general was completely ill-equipped to go up against Dillinger.
02:04Dillinger!
02:05Dillinger's use of technology made him almost invincible.
02:10You're too good for them.
02:11They ain't tough enough, smart enough, or fast enough.
02:13For the Lord!
02:16For the Lord!
