In India, millions still don't have access to safe drinking water. For many families, that means depending on expensive bottled water or relying on unsafe sources.

That's the problem Niranjan from Belagavi set out to solve.

He began with a simple idea which is to build small, affordable filters that could fit onto any bottle, making clean water accessible for travelers, students, and even the Indian Army and CRPF. But he didn't stop there.

Most RO purifiers waste three litres of water for every one litre they clean. Niranjan wanted to change that. His new RO system is designed to save up to seventy percent of that wasted water, with a smart storage container so the reject water can be reused for washing and cleaning. It's a solution not just for homes, but for offices and even large-scale commercial use.

00:00I am going to drink this dirty water, thanks to this man's innovation.
00:05I made India's most affordable water filter.
00:07And now he's making aro-purifiers that save water.
00:10And not waste it.
00:12Niranjan is from Belgavi in Karnataka.
00:14Growing up, I saw kids in this government school drink unsafe water.
00:18So he decided to make clean water accessible.
00:20Hi, we're Jenny. We tell sustainable stories.
00:23And this story was made possible by Prosperity Homes,
00:25Hyderabad's first...
00:28sustainable homes.
00:30Hi, Jenny. I'm Niranjan, the founder of Nirnal.
00:33Nirnal's water filters are small and can fit onto any bottle,
00:36which are great while traveling.
00:38It has patented membrane tech with super tiny holes
00:40where water molecules can pass through it.
00:42This can remove dirt, microplastic bacteria
00:44and is recommended to use with any surface water.
00:47While some companies sell 1 liter of water for 200 rupees,
00:51his goal is to make clean water affordable.
00:53These filters are being used by the Indian Army and CRPF commandos
00:57and we are exporting to 15 different countries.
00:59But he wanted to make a bigger impact.
01:01So I made RO purifiers that save 70% of the water.
01:04To purify 1 liter of water,
01:06most ROs waste 3 liters of water.
01:09But this one waste just 1 liter.
01:11And there's an inbuilt storage container for wastewater
01:13so it can be used for washing and cleaning.
01:16Our purifiers can be installed in homes, offices and commercial spaces.
