00:07I think that, you know, it's interesting to see sort of this modern, long-distance relationship in today's high-tech
00:16society
00:16and how does it work, you know, that's sort of the question of can people make this work
00:22and I think that, you know, it's also nice to see two people on screen who have incredible chemistry with
00:30one another
00:31and for me, I just wanted to be able to have the opportunity to do some fun things with Drew.
00:46We've known each other since she was about eight
00:51but we really haven't hung out around each other all these years
00:55I mean, I've seen her, you know, in social situations
00:58we've always, you know, had a kinship and a kindness towards one another
01:03so I guess, you know, it's just our paths professionally have never really crossed.
01:17I have a sister who's about the same age as Drew's character
01:21and I would do anything to make sure that she was okay
01:25and I think I would hurt anyone who's hurt her
01:30so I think that it definitely is relatable
01:33and plus my sister and I are also closer in age
01:36so we're really good friends
01:37and, you know, we get wild and crazy together
01:41and we laugh together
01:42and we talk about things that, you know, that are R-rated in front of each other
01:47so it's a very relatable relationship.
02:00I do like dropping an F-bomb every once in a while
02:03You know, it's always good to do that
02:05I think, you know, now that I'm going to be a mother
02:07I like to have some things out there that don't have all of this
02:10so that, you know, my kid can see what their mommy does
02:13but, you know, I've never been a stranger to controversial dialogue
02:19It's kind of always followed me around
02:31Long distance relationships confuse me completely
02:33because what a relationship really is
02:35is physical contact and intimacy
02:38and I just don't know how they work
02:40I mean, for me personally
02:41I don't think I could really function in something like that
02:46because so much
02:47what makes the person different
02:49from just being one of your really good friends
02:50is that they're the person that you, you know, you hold at night
02:57But, yeah, so I don't know how that works for anybody
03:06Yeah, I mean, I think in this situation
03:14as far as, you know, with this distance in between the two
03:17I know for myself and the person that I'm with
03:19he's gone on tour for about four months at a time
03:22and Skyping was really essential
03:25was an essential part of our relationship
03:28It was great to have that technology
03:31It was so great at night to just have a few minutes of FaceTime
03:35like actual FaceTime
03:36and it kind of made me feel safe
03:37it made me feel okay to see where he was
03:41and that he was okay, that he was smiling
03:43and it's, I mean, what a fantastic invention
03:56Basically, you know, I think with any script
03:58you always give the script a chance first
04:00and that's my opinion
04:01I think some people don't
04:02but I always try to get, like, let's get everything
04:05the way it's written
04:07because someone spent a lot of time doing this
04:10and then play
04:11and then, you know, we did do that on this
04:14and we did, you know, sort of get everything locked in
04:17the way it was written
04:19and then she gave us the freedom, really, to roll with it
04:23and so most of the stuff that I was in
04:25all had a great deal of improv
04:37Poor Justin, I mean, he was just naked
04:40the whole, I'm really naked
04:42not like fake movie, but naked
04:44I mean, he was really naked
04:45and it was really, like, I really saw everything
04:49you know, so the reaction that you see from me
04:51is as honest as it can possibly get
05:04Well, I think that's probably why there was so much improv
05:07I've never really been in a movie where improv was encouraged as much as this
05:13and it was shocking to me, you know
05:16and I think it's because she comes from documentary
05:18and I think she lets real life happen
05:21so, you know, I don't think she was really paying so much attention
05:23to those guidelines that we had to follow
05:26she would just let it roll for 10 minutes
05:29and let everyone just riff
05:32so I think she likes to be a fly on the wall as well
05:35so that her style of shooting was different
05:46I mean, that was a great, you know
05:49a big high point for me
05:51of wanting to do the movie, too
05:52besides, you know, the actors involved
05:55and the script
05:55and Nanette was that I got to be in New York for a couple weeks
06:00I missed it
06:00you know, I lived there for a while
06:02and I really miss being there
06:03and especially being there sort of in the spring into summertime
06:05it was just
06:07it was glorious to be able to be there
06:18it was great
06:19Drew is, you know, it's always so lovely to see
06:22when someone who sets their tone
06:25I always feel like, you know, when it's been my set
06:28you set that tone
06:30and so what you bring in really
06:31kind of dictates the way that the day goes
06:33and she really comes in and knows that
06:37she's been in this business long enough to know that
06:39you don't bring your shit with you
06:41you make sure that it's a good tone
06:44and that way we can be productive
06:46and joyful
06:47and grateful
06:48and all the things that she is
06:50so it was a really nice place to work
