00:08Una delle cose più importanti di sviluppo di caratteristica per me è il wardrobe.
00:13I work with Mary Zofres, figuring out, you know, the right hat for the guy,
00:18the right patch, you know, for the eye.
00:20Boots are always important.
00:22Rooster, I wanted him to have this great overcoat.
00:25It's called a great coat, or an ulster coat.
00:28You know, I saw it in a piece of research.
00:30It has a big collar, and he's got a great build for this,
00:33and I knew he could carry it.
00:35Jeff Bridges, when he's in a fitting, he transforms right in front of you.
00:39He is why I do what I do, because you can see it happening.
00:43You know, like, he started doing something with his voice in the middle of the fitting,
00:47and I could sense it.
00:48At first I was like, what's going on?
00:49And then I realized he's getting into character.
00:51And his stance changed, and we're like, done! That's Rooster!
00:55I was really pleased with how that turned out, because this coat has a big slit up the back,
00:59so when he gets on his horse, it kind of, you know, has this movement.
01:03You know, he's a bit of a drunk, and he's a bit of a mess, but he's still heroic and
01:07iconic.
01:09Labeef, who's Matt Damon, is in Buckskin.
01:13Nobody else in town wears Buckskin. He's the only one for miles in Buckskin, and that was on purpose.
01:18It's described in the script as someone with maybe a little too much panache.
01:22There was something about Buckskin, which I thought was a really good idea.
01:25It's tough to be taken seriously in a Buckskin jacket.
01:28So I think it's the kind of thing that, you know, it's like a handicap.
01:30It's like, I'm gonna give you that, and I want you to get past that.
01:33He's got fringe on his Buckskin, and he probably had his boots custom made.
01:37And he's taken the time to give his hat a certain blocking.
01:41You know, it's got a curve on the side, and it kind of goes over his eye.
01:45And again, it's maybe a little bit too much panache.
01:47So much so that Maddie notices him and doesn't really like him because of it.
01:52I've just come from Yale County.
01:55We have no rodeo clowns in Yale County.
01:59A saucy line will not get you far with me.
02:03Maddie's costume is, the idea is that she's come to town.
02:05She thinks she's gonna take care of her business in about a day.
02:08She figures she'd go home in the same dress.
02:10She has one dress or one going to town dress.
02:12She doesn't wear a hoop. She has petticoats underneath.
02:15But when she decides to go on the trail, what she ends up doing is,
02:18she takes her dad's pants, she takes her dad's overcoat,
02:22and her dad's hat, and she puts those on.
02:24And she takes a belt off of her dad's saddle,
02:26and that's what she hoists it all together with.
02:28It just felt like the minute I put it on,
02:30I was set in a different time era.
02:33Like, it's amazing the little things, you know,
02:35putting on the clothes, putting on the shoes.
02:36What a difference it makes.
02:37And I think that, you know, really affected my performance.
02:40You answer me, Rooster!
02:43I will kill this girl!
02:45You know I will do it!
02:47Berry Pepper, yeah, Berry Pepper was really fun to dress.
02:49It's scripted, and it's also in the book,
02:52that Lucky Ned wears woolly chaps.
02:54They're chaps made out of angora.
02:55The front of them is made out of angora.
02:57The back is leather.
02:58And they wore them because...
