Legoland Windsor Resort is celebrating its 30th birthday with a new Miniland display called “1996 High Street,” marking the year the park first opened. The scene, built from over 12,000 LEGO bricks, depicts 1990s shop fronts, pop bands, pick ‘n’ mix stands, and football scenes, reflecting British culture in 1996. The model-making team spent 171 hours creating the display.Children’s TV presenter Pat Sharp joined as an honorary LEGO model maker to help put the final pieces in place. The display will remain in Miniland throughout 2026, offering visitors the chance to explore a detailed recreation of mid-90s high street life. Ramesh Ganeson, Vice President at Legoland Windsor Resort, stated that the scene allows families to engage with the park’s history while highlighting creativity and imagination through LEGO building.

00:06Well today is for me a very exciting day because it celebrates the 30th anniversary of Legoland
00:13and I'm the honorary model maker. Can you believe it? With my own badge, opening the 1996 High
00:21Street in Miniland. So the build process for the High Street has been quite intricate and we've
00:32tried to capture a lot of the aspects of a 1996 High Street and overall it's taken 12,000 bricks
00:39and 171 hours to put this together. I reckon visitors will love the three decades build,
00:48they will look back and reminisce of a time that perhaps was simpler for them. It really has stood
00:55the test of time hasn't it because generation-wise it just keeps on going and keeps on giving and it
01:00doesn't matter what age you are, I think people will always be into Lego and always want to come
01:05to somewhere like Legoland.
