00:07in that usually I'm the main character very much and Nick is my kind of like, you know, the sidekick
00:14almost
00:14whereas in this film it's very much a doubleheader and it's about two people as, you know, we're each other's
00:20sidekick in this movie
00:21If anything Nick's character is the slightly more dominant one in that he's more confident, more, you know, Graham's a
00:27bit of a wallflower
00:27And it takes Paul to stop him from being that, but yeah, it's been fun doing it like that, you
00:35know
00:35It's been fun playing it as a two-hander rather than me and my shadow
00:41And Nick's really taken to it wonderfully. It's been great, you know
00:47I kind of wanted to play a little bit more of a shyer character, a bit, you know, not so
00:52So, um, not as sort of confident as Sean or Nicholas Angel in the two previous films I've done with
00:58Nick
00:59Um, but, you know, I'm just a nerd anyway
01:03I kind of, I'm into my comics and my science fiction
01:06So I know what it's like to obsess about things like that
01:10And so it didn't take much research really
01:13I just had to not be me so much, just be a bit more kind of
01:15You know, Graham's very sweet, he's an innocent
01:17And he's, uh, you know, he's just a guy who's
01:22Who can't really function that well in society just because he's very shy
01:28I met him on the morning, Superbad came out
01:30I met him in New York and we went out for breakfast and had a chat and I really liked
01:34him
01:34And, uh, I felt like he was on our wavelength
01:37And that's just been proven right again and again
01:39And particularly during the shoot, you know, because he's been extraordinary
01:42And it's been wonderful seeing him have so much fun and, you know
01:46I sort of trot up to the monitor and see what he's doing and think
01:48Yeah, that's it, that's what we want
01:50I couldn't have done it myself, but somehow you knew
01:53And, you know, he's very good at interpreting the script
01:55And he has thoughts and ideas which are always, you know, really valuable
01:59With Graham and Clive, you know, because they're not, they're English in America
02:02So they are aliens as well
02:04And everybody in the film really, or particularly the gang that Paul hooks up with
02:08Are all, in their own ways, aliens, you know
02:10Ruth is, Graham and Clive are, for different reasons
02:13Ruth is because her belief system is so, you know, kind of strict
02:18It kind of sets her aside from
02:19And she hasn't lived her life particularly
02:22So everyone in some respect is slightly alien
02:25And that was a key factor in the writing, you know
02:29It's just this idea of people not being where they belong
02:32And learning to live where they don't belong, you know
