00:02Buona Pasqua. Lei sai che la mia mamma è della Calabria. Davvero. Ti spiace che mio italiano è bruttissimo?
00:13I'm going to speak in English. I cannot be with you this evening because I'm making a movie now in
00:19the United States and I cannot leave.
00:21But I am very sorry not to be there because I believe this film by Renzo Martinelli is an extremely
00:29important film.
00:31Because I believe Renzo Martinelli is one of the most important filmmakers not only in Italy but in Europe.
00:38He makes films that say something of importance.
00:44He discusses the glory of humanity and the possibility of one man.
00:51The possibility that we all have to make a better world.
00:57Renzo speaks of the power of good over the power of evil.
01:03And that's exactly what the character that I portray represents who became a saint for that very reason.
01:10My character, this wonderful saint, almost single-handedly accomplished what people today say is important but impossible.
01:22I say it is possible.
01:25We have proof of it.
01:28He gathered together nations and heads of nations who hated each other for a common cause.
01:35for the cause and the sake of humanity.
01:38Isn't that what's happening right now?
01:41Have we forgotten the power that we have?
01:45Have we forgotten, more importantly, the power that the Italian people have had in the history of the world?
01:52We don't have to go back all the way to Galileo, all the way up through the great, great renaissance
02:03artists.
02:04Michelangelo, Raffaello, Caravaggio, Leonardo.
02:10It goes on and on, but up through the great Pirandello, the great Calvino, Moretti, the modern painter, Fantastichini, the
02:22great modern artist.
02:27And Enrico Fermi's work still has a great impact on the world today.
02:36Renzo Montanelli has not forgotten the greatness of Italy, and he insists that everyone in the world understand what the
02:48Italians have accomplished in this world.
02:54And of course, let me not forget the great Dante.
02:59I believe that this film is important for many reasons.
03:03One, it proves the potential of humanity and the potential of one man.
03:10It proves that we can come together for the forces of good.
03:18But we must have faith.
03:22The accomplishment is for our children and our children's children.
03:29This is the greatness of this film.
03:34Grazie tanti.
03:37Ci vediamo presto, prestissimo.
