00:18Two years ago, on a friend trip,
00:22all the boys were playing poker,
00:24and I didn't really understand it,
00:25and they just taught me how to play.
00:27And then I started watching tournaments,
00:30and that's when I became obsessed.
00:32I think I'm very competitive, and I like to win,
00:36so it just feels really, really good when you're up.
00:40This is like my normal poker outfit.
00:44The goal of Texas Hold'em is to make the best five-card hand
00:48from two cards you've been dealt
00:50and five shared cards in the middle of the table,
00:52or act like you have the best hand.
00:55There are 10 really basic ways
00:57to win a game of Texas Hold'em.
00:59I'm going to go in order from the least valuable hand
01:02to the most.
01:03The first way you can win a hand
01:05is a high card, like an ace.
01:08Next, there's a pair of cards, like two eights.
01:12You could also have a two pair,
01:14like two fives and two nines.
01:17Next, there's a three of a kind.
01:19Three sixes is a little crazy.
01:20Should we do three of another card?
01:21No, we can't.
01:23Next, there's a three of a kind, like three threes.
01:27And then there's a hand called a straight,
01:30which is five cards in a sequential order,
01:32like three, four, five, six, seven.
01:35Then there's a flush, my personal favorite,
01:38which is five cards of the same suit in any order.
01:41It's just fun chasing a flush.
01:44Another way to win is by having a full house,
01:46which is when a player has a pair and a three of a kind,
01:50like two eights and three jacks.
01:53There's also four of a kind, like all four aces.
01:59A straight flush is when you have five cards
02:01in order of the same suit.
02:04Finally, there is the royal flush.
02:07That means you have a 10, jack, queen, king, and ace
02:11in the same suit.
02:12Your chances of being dealt this hand are 30,000 to one.
02:15So good luck with that.
02:17And I've never seen one.
02:21What makes the best vibe for a poker night
02:23is lots of tequila, good music,
02:27or whatever game is on, and snacks.
02:32I like people who juice the pot,
02:36who bet a lot of money.
02:38And I like to play with people
02:40who are really passionate about the game, like I am.
02:43Because sometimes people will come and they'll just
02:45kind of want to chit-chat,
02:47and you're like,
02:49we got to focus.
02:52At the start of every hand,
02:53you get two cards face down.
02:55You keep these cards secret from everyone else.
02:59I don't have a good hand.
03:00After everyone gets their two cards,
03:02betting starts.
03:03And when it's your turn,
03:04you've got three main choices.
03:06You can fold, call, or raise.
03:09Once everyone is bet,
03:10the dealer will reveal three cards
03:12face up on the table.
03:14This is called the flop.
03:17So now you're looking at your two cards
03:19plus the three cards on the table.
03:21Now it's time to decide.
03:23Can I make something good with this?
03:24I would probably check at this point,
03:27but I do have something.
03:29I do have something.
03:31Tyler, are you good at bluffing?
03:33I can't say.
03:36There's another round of betting,
03:37and then another card comes out.
03:42This is what we like to call the turn.
03:44Mmm.
03:45This is interesting
03:46because I don't have such a good...
03:50You know, I have a pair.
03:51I'm just going to tell you guys, okay?
03:53I have a pair of fives, okay?
03:56I have a pair of fives,
03:57but the ace came out.
03:58So that's not looking that good for me.
04:01There's another round of betting,
04:02but let's say I'm still in the hand.
04:05Now, the last card.
04:07The river is coming out.
04:09Oh.
04:10The king came out,
04:11which isn't really great for me either.
04:13There's also three diamonds on the board.
04:16So if someone has a pair of diamonds,
04:19there's five, seven, nine.
04:21Someone could have six, eight.
04:23For a straight,
04:24someone could have a pair of aces,
04:26a pair of kings.
04:27I think that's the main part
04:29is you always want to think about
04:30what does everyone else have?
04:32No more cards are coming.
04:33This is the final round of betting,
04:35and this is where people either go big or get out.
04:40I just have a pair of fives.
04:42But since I'm the only one playing,
04:44I win!
04:48If you're just getting started with poker,
04:50I recommend you have a drink,
04:53relax,
04:54and use a little cheat sheet.

04:57what are all the hands I could win with,
04:59and then you can just look at your phone
05:01and just always be checking what you have.
