00:11plays the teacher
00:13Neil Clark is given the power
00:15to do anything by a conglomerate
00:18of aliens. He realizes through
00:19trial and error that he has to be very literal
00:21with his commands when it comes to using his power
00:23because otherwise terrible things happen
00:26It's just a series of
00:27...of catastrophic mistakes, so he sort of has to learn about the responsibility that comes with great power.
00:35Weather, be like it is in Los Angeles.
00:40I didn't mean be like it is in Los Angeles right this moment, it's the middle of the night, for
00:44crying out loud!
00:45And Kate Beckinsale.
00:47My character works in television, with her boss being Joanna Lomley, who's quite a fearsome creature.
00:54Fenella, she's a complete witch, she has a book programme, but I think she's never read a book, I don't
01:00think she reads books, I think she has a lot of researchers.
01:03And my character's sort of a bit more idealistic.
01:06Her character and Simon's characters would know each other because of being neighbours and, you know, but not necessarily intimately
01:13well,
01:13and then she sort of gets kind of embroiled into his whole drama that happens.
01:19And Sanjeev Bhaskar plays Neil's sidekick.
01:25Ray is the one person that Neil entrusts with the information that he has these special powers.
01:31In turn, Ray kind of tries to get Neil to use his special powers to benefit Ray to kind of
01:41comic and somewhat disastrous consequences.
01:44Eddie Izzard plays the headteacher.
01:47My character, the headteacher, his name is Headteacher, that's his actual name, Stuart Headteacher.
01:53He's a very dark character, he's evil.
01:56Rob Riggle is an ex-Colonel from the Marines, and so he's perfect casting.
02:02I play Colonel Grant, and my character is awesome.
02:08He's a very focused, very focused individual.
02:13Doesn't hear too well, doesn't do a lot of listening, does a lot of transmitting, not so much receiving.
02:20And is in love with Catherine, Kate Beckinsale.
02:26And can you blame him?
02:30And he's not going to take no for an answer.
02:33The Pythons all voice the aliens.
02:37Janet is Mike Palin.
02:40Maureen is Terry G.
02:42And Eric Idle voices the salubrious get.
02:46Sharon is John.
02:49Kylie is myself.
02:51I love Terry.
02:52He's like, I think Michael Palin has got a lot.
02:55He must be incredibly nice if he's nicer than Terry.
02:58I mean, Michael's known as the nice python.
03:00Terry is like the nicest human being on earth.
03:02It's lovely to work with a director who laughs as well.
03:05Terry will chuckle madly at the end of a take, and you just, you feel very validated by that.
03:10And Robin Williams' voice is Dennis the dog.
03:15It must have been almost his last voice over.
03:20I like it being ordered, especially your orders.
03:22Robin Williams phoned me up on my cell phone and said,
03:28he just got an idea.
03:30Dennis is a 16-year-old boy.
03:34He was so excited about that.
03:36So we did a Skype call the following Monday with Robin doing the voicing the dog.
03:44And it was great, yes.
03:46It was great.
03:46Thanks to me for the first time and watching.
03:46We'll be right back.
03:46We'll be right back.
