00:00A shell of a good deal. An 80-year-old man and his 99-year-old father became the first
00:05people ever
00:06to take advantage of a free oysters deal that's almost as ancient as old dad. Back in the 1930s,
00:13Winsall's Oyster House in Mobile, Alabama put up a sign that said, quote,
00:17free oysters to any man 80 years old accompanied by his father. Random and very specific. Well,
00:25Jim Rush and his son Jimmy have been looking at that sign once a year since they first visited
00:30the restaurant back in 1972. They would stop by for a meal before riding in an annual Mardi Gras
00:35parade together. It's a family tradition. When Jimmy was about to turn 80, he said he had his
00:40birthday all planned out. A stop at Winsall's to take them up on the deal. Brilliant. The plan
00:45ballooned to this huge event with about 60 family and friends joining them for the gathering. Now,
00:51Winsall's made good on the promise and served Jimmy a dozen free oysters. Apparently his brother is
00:56going to turn 80 in a few years and is going to take them up on the deal too.
