Trascrizione
00:01Rehearsal of warmup, first to the right eyebrow, ready and one and two and...
00:07There was this totally outrageous voice.
00:11After reading that first National Lampoon, I went wow.
00:16In those days magazines were a bigger deal.
00:18People defined themselves by the magazines they read.
00:22Breasts.
00:23I would seek out the magazine on the off chance that there would be some breasts.
00:26Tell me about National Lampoon, why do you think it's so popular?
00:29They're designed to flatter a particular audience of fairly well-to-do nobodies.
00:35There's this wonderful freedom.
00:37If you don't buy this magazine, we'll kill this dog.
00:39We can do anything we want!
00:42My first week at the National Lampoon, we were getting drunk in a park.
00:45There was a man secretly living in his office.
00:48It was a crazy place like nothing I'd ever seen before.
00:52I didn't tell him what to do.
00:53It is the job of a satirist, to make people in power uncomfortable.
00:57What about a baby in a blender?
00:59Really uncomfortable.
01:02We were taking on the idiocy of our own generation.
01:07It showed that we could do more than put out a magazine.
01:10Suddenly, it was records of actors and musicians.
01:13We're gonna make a movie!
01:15I said, hey, why don't you write this high school movie?
01:18There was so much sex.
01:19We can't do this in a high school.
01:21We'll get lynched.
01:22So that became Animal House.
01:24And from that moment on, we went from being criminals to heroes.
01:28What we didn't anticipate was that Hollywood would take away all of our creative talent.
01:33John Hughes wrote the short story, Vacation 58.
01:36This movie was a huge success.
01:38The more popular we got, the more people's egos were doing this.
01:42The Lampoon is the hippest place to be the right comic.
01:45Until the hippest place became Saturday Night Live.
01:47It was written by some Lampoon people.
01:49It was starring some former Lampoon people.
01:51Chevy Chase chuckled and he said, nobody gets laid right in for National Lampoon anymore.
01:55Better luck next time.
01:57There would be Doug with his dick in some girl's ear.
02:00You could get high just walking in.
02:03They became all of modern comedy.
02:06You are never gonna see people like that again.
02:08And I'm gonna end it on that note.
02:21See you later.
02:23.
02:23.
02:23.
02:23.
02:23Grazie.
