00:01So we were anxious to make them different sizes. The nasty alien played by Terry Gilliam is a very tiny
00:10little chap and John Cleese is the chief alien and he's he's bigger than than everybody else. We wanted to
00:19play with scale and also we wanted the idea that these aliens came from different galaxies.
00:26Very early on we decided that none of them will be wearing clothes. So that meant we were interested in
00:33texture and color and silhouette. We found that we needed to to give the audience the viewer elements that they
00:43sort of recognize. So there are there are vestiges of turkeys and vultures and crabs.
00:51And initially we thought we'd have lots of limbs and you know three heads and but the further we got
00:58away from a slightly humanistic nod to limbs and the number of heads.
01:08The more difficult it was to make them believable. Well the aliens live in a huge spaceship which is based
01:14on a large jellyfish.
01:15So the idea of making a spaceship that was vertical rather than horizontal and a spaceship that had sort of
01:22tentacles and looked rather dangerous but rather beautiful.
01:26So it seemed to be a good starting point.
