00:00I think you said once, Tilda, that you choose, one of the big reasons why you choose a project is
00:05the film maker.
00:06Yeah.
00:06And I wondered when you first worked with these guys, what was it about them that you were intrigued about?
00:12I have always loved the way in which they make a world.
00:16It doesn't matter what the world it is, they make it complete.
00:20And then they kind of set up this magnifying glass on this world.
00:24Whether it's the dude in Los Angeles and the rug, mad story.
00:29But you're in the dude's world, and you're going to the bowling alley, and there's John Turturro, and then they
00:36take it up, the movie ends, and then they'll put it down in Washington, and there's Burn After Reading, and
00:42that's another world.
00:43And then they'll pick it up, and then they'll put it down in Hollywood in the 50s.
00:46And I've always loved that capacity for filmmaking to show you people behaving in a particular world.
00:55And I think they're masters at that.
00:57They're modern masters, and they remind me of, you know, filmmakers that I worship, like Preston Sturgis, used to do
01:03the same thing.
01:04And, of course, they write so extraordinarily, because you read a Cohen script, and you read the film, because you
01:13get a sense of what it's going to look like.
01:15You get a sense of how fast it's going to go.
01:17You get a sense of, just even in their sort of, you know, their directions.
01:23They direct.
01:25On the page.
01:27I mean, they could, they could, I mean, I don't know if one could make this experiment, they could give
01:31one of their scripts to somebody else, and say, direct it, and it would end up looking like a Coen
01:37Brothers film.
01:38And I know that they've written other people's scripts, or they've done polishes and things, but I don't know whether
01:43they've ever done that, exactly.
01:44I don't know whether they've ever given anybody else a script that they've really kind of directed on the page.
01:49I don't know if they've ever done that, but I don't know if they've ever done that, but I don't
01:49know if they've ever done that.
