00:49di essere able a make Nikki rebelliose e fearless
00:53e angry about this whole agency, you know?
00:59She wants to expose them.
01:05I think one thing that I talked about with Paul
01:07was that I really liked the idea of her being fearless
01:09because she's nothing to lose.
01:12She says that she's sick of running,
01:16and so she has nothing
01:18and there's a lot of freedom that comes with that
01:21and so she wants to rebel
01:26and wants to expose what the agency has been doing
01:32but then also expose herself in some way, you know?
01:35Come out of hiding.
01:39I think one thing that really motivates Nikki is that,
01:46and it functions as a way to,
01:48her character functions as a way to remind the audience of this,
01:51of the human cost of all these black ops,
01:55meaning, you know, what it's done to this man
01:59that she sees as an individual,
02:01whereas people back at Langley could see, you know,
02:05just sort of foot soldiers.
02:10I was really impressed, again, with Paul's writing.
02:13Like, when I first read that there was going to be the bare knuckle boxing
02:18and that's where we find him,
02:20it impressed me that he describes in the script,
02:24and I think you see it in this scene,
02:27that it's almost masochistic.
02:30Like, in other action movies,
02:33the hero would have to be, you know, pummeling everyone else,
02:38but Paul's more interested in the psychology behind why Jason Bourne's there,
02:44and so the fact that he's allowing himself to take punches
02:48because he feels so guilty about all the damage that he's caused,
02:55it's fascinating, I think,
02:56and adds another layer to what could otherwise be really superficial.
03:04Oh, where do I begin?
03:07Well, perfect example is just now he gave a speech
03:10because I was shooting my last scene,
03:13and gave me a signed photo of the three of us, me, Paul, and Matt,
03:18and it's so thoughtful and touching,
03:21and he does that with everyone.
03:22I mean, he's appreciative of how hard everyone on the crew works.
03:25At the same time,
03:29he'll laugh and joke around and rib people on the crew,
03:33but he really,
03:35I really think that he sets a tone
03:38that makes everybody want to do their best.
