00:05Welcome to The Lead, I'm Jake Tapper, and you're watching CNN. Be careful on the elliptical.
00:12President-elect Donald Trump has made some unconventional picks for his cabinet.
00:18Here to help make sense of this is Trump's senior advisor, Kellyanne Conway.
00:22Thank you, Jake. Happy to be here.
00:26Kellyanne, Trump has nominated Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt to head the EPA, even though he's a fossil fuel advocate
00:33that doesn't believe in climate change.
00:35Well, yes. Actually, Scott Pruitt is excited for the job and is ready to protect us all from the environment.
00:43I'm not sure that's how it works.
00:46This pick is not the only one that has people scratching their heads.
00:49There's also the decision to name the CEO of Carl's Jr. and Hardee's, Andy Puzder, as Secretary of Labor, even
00:56though Puzder does not support a minimum wage.
00:58Kellyanne, it's almost like Mr. Trump appoints these people specifically to undermine the very agencies they head. Are these bad
01:05picks?
01:05No, Jake, they are not bad. They are alt-good.
01:11Wasn't Donald Trump supposed to drain the swamp?
01:13Mm-hmm. And actually, Mr. Trump is draining the swamp, as he said he would, and the frogs and the
01:18toads and the newts that are left to have mutations that allowed them to survive are now his cabinet pegs.
01:27Now, as you know, Kellyanne, we have some breaking news tonight.
01:32President-elect Trump has just made his choice for head of the DEA, the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency,
01:37and it's a high school science teacher from New Mexico named Walter Wright.
01:42He joins us now.
01:51Hello, Jake.
01:53Walter is amazing. He came highly recommended by Steve Bannon.
01:58Oh, yeah. Steve's the best. We've had some times.
02:04Where did Mr. Bannon find you?
02:06Another comment section at Breitbart.
02:09And I'm really surprised you tracked me down, because I've kind of been off the grid for a while.
02:13And you're a high school science teacher?
02:16Yeah.
02:18Now, do you know anything about drug enforcement?
02:22Oh, trust me.
02:24I know the DEA better than anyone, inside and out.
02:28Mr. White, how did you even get considered for this job?
02:31Do you know Donald Trump?
02:32Nope.
02:33Nope.
02:34But I'm a big fan. I like his style.
02:37He acts first and then asks questions later.
02:41I also like that wall he wants to build.
02:43Nothing comes in from Mexico, meaning a lot less competition for the rest of us.
02:49You mean jobs?
02:52Sure.
02:55Walter is actually a genius with chemicals, and we're so lucky to get him.
02:59The top companies in the country had been knocking on his door for years, but he never answered.
03:04Well, I am the one who knocks.
03:08And, Mr. White, do you foresee any problems with Congress considering your limited experience?
03:14Well, they might get hung up on the fact that I faked my own death.
03:18I'm only the third person in the Trump cabinet to do that.
03:23Mr. White is actually such a great fit for this administration.
03:26He's first and foremost in support of small business.
03:29Oh, absolutely.
03:30Donald Trump and I agree.
03:32It's time to make America cook again.
03:36We want to fill this nation with red, white, and a whole lot of blue.
03:43And let me tell you one more thing, Jake.
03:45Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!
03:58Live from New York!
