00:10Ciao Franco!
00:12Simon, sono a casa.
00:14It's time, I can have a!
00:20Your characters are almost like the Yin and the Young of transporting,
00:25because your character is dark, it's the past that always comes back.
00:31And your character gives meaning and purpose to everything.
00:36So how...you have a huge responsibility.
00:39You're transporting the two columns of transporting.
00:41We are transporting!
00:45i love that analysis
00:48no that's lovely
00:52the pillars of the film in any way
00:54but I understand what you mean
00:55I think it is the polar opposite
00:58in terms of what they are
01:00it's a lovely thing to say
01:01if people want to think that that is lovely
01:04but of course you can't do it without everyone else
01:08I think the four are the four
01:10so it's Bigby bounces off all these characters
01:14in a different way
01:15that Spud bounces off the other ones as well
01:18they have nothing in common
01:20but their destinies are bound from cradle to grave
01:25it's that idea of the friendship again
01:27are these friendships that you make when you're a child
01:33are they worth anything as you grow older
01:36do you want to maintain those friendships
01:39can you escape them
01:41can you ever get away from them
01:44in the movie Renton says be an addict but on something else
01:50and it's impressive that all of the characters are constantly touching their phones
01:57playing video games
01:59we have become addicted to snapchat
02:02Renton that uses snapchat
02:03my god it's something crazy
02:0520 the most
02:07in these 20 years technology is the thing that changes most
02:10so have you felt it
02:12I think that's interesting because you know
02:15that's not really contained within porno
02:19the second book
02:20and that was another one of the reasons why
02:24it would have been impossible really to make completely that book
02:29because technology has changed so much
02:33in those 20 years since the first one was made
02:36that it would be silly to try and do that
02:47when this film came out in our culture
02:50in our part of the world
02:51it broke at a time when
02:55we were coming out of a period of
02:57very conservative
03:01controls on our society
03:03and very conservative definitions
03:05of what society was
03:08and when Trainspotting hit
03:11it just was like a zeitgeist time
03:13where that was being broken open
03:15and the definition of who you were
03:23you know your identity
03:24was suddenly people took more control
03:29over who they were
03:32what they wanted
03:38and ownership of themselves
03:41so you saw people who enjoyed their lives
03:45had a lust for life
03:46even though they lived in the gutter
03:48even though they had desperately bleak horizons
03:53they had a lust for life
03:55and a burning kind of appetite
03:58to run with that as fast as they can
04:02and by the time we get to this part of the story
04:0520 years later
04:10they've run to the edge of the cliff
04:12they've run to the edge of this platform here
04:15in a way they're looking into the abyss
04:16and their youth is on the other side
04:23and I think in our real world
04:26it's turned again
04:29we're turning into a conservative age again
04:35which is part of the cycle of life
04:38I guess
04:39it always has been so
04:41sure things are changing
04:43the world is certainly changing
04:44the rise of the right wing throughout the world
04:47it's a danger to us all
04:49maybe that reflects it slightly
04:51I don't think we set out to make this film
04:54to make any political statements
04:55neither did the first one
04:56but I think it's maybe there for people to read
05:00thank you
05:01thank you
05:01you're amazing
05:08you
05:28thank you
