00:0129 OFWs and their dependents from Dubai are set to return to the Philippines this Tuesday amid
00:07the escalating war between Iran and the combined forces of the United States and Israel. Meanwhile,
00:1316 Filipinos from Tel Aviv, Israel will cross through Egypt and Muscat and are expected to
00:19arrive in the Philippines on Wednesday, March 11. Two chartered flights are also scheduled on
00:25March 14 from Riyadh and Dubai to the Philippines. 400 OFWs from the Middle East already arrived in
00:31the country on March 3. Malacanang maintains that the government is doing everything possible to
00:37safely bring Filipinos home amid the conflict. The palace also responded to criticism that the
00:42government's repatriation efforts are allegedly slow, stressing that it is not easy to send an
00:48aircraft into an active conflict zone in the Middle East.
00:51I will remind the president of the most dangerous danger if we will immediately leave our families
01:01if we will continue to bomb or attack on the border of the countries that are in the Middle East.
01:16The president, she said, has directed authorities to ensure that all Filipinos in the region are
01:21assisted.
01:22Uulitin po natin, ang utos ng Pangulo ay asikasuhin ang lahat ng ating mga kababayan,
01:30lalong-lalo na yung mga naiipit sa Middle East.
01:33President Marcos has also set to certify as urgent a measure that would give the president
01:38the power to reduce the excise tax on fuel once global oil prices reach $80 per barrel.
02:02The proposed reduction in excise tax aims to ease the sharp rise in fuel prices
02:07which could otherwise drive up the cost of goods and services across the country.
02:12The government also assure the public that supply of crude oil and basic commodities remains sufficient.
02:17But Malacanang warned against hoarding and profiteering.
02:20Kapag ka po kayo ay nahuli na lumalabag sa batas, nahuli na nag-hoard or umaksyon or gumawa ng isang
02:29profiteering,
02:31hindi po kayo tatantana ng ating pamahalaan dahil kayo po mismo ay malidimanda at kakasuhan.
02:38The Middle East crisis is also impacting the Philippine currency
02:42with the peso weakening to 59 pesos and 50 centavos against the dollar.
02:48But the government says the measures are being prepared to counter the decline.
02:52When the peso weakens, the cost of imported products also rise.
02:56At kung magtutuloy-tuloy po ito ay magkakaroon po talaga ng intervention.
03:00At yan naman po ay sasangayunan din po ng pamahalaan.
