00:00As things currently stand, UNIFIL is to withdraw all troops from Lebanon in the middle of next
00:06year, the middle of 2027. And I'm wondering how that can happen in this sort of a context.
00:11And what would it mean if you weren't there? Well, the Security Council has told us that
00:15our mandate will end on December 31st of this year. And at that point, we will have some time
00:21to fully withdraw because obviously you can't remove thousands of troops in an instant. So
00:28we will have to pack up our bases, remove equipment, hand over properties and things like this.
00:36So this is a long term, medium term process that will happen. But nonetheless, this is what
00:42the Security Council has said. And we are working with the Lebanese Armed Forces to ensure that
00:49any scenario that we will hand over some of the things that we are doing to them and the
00:57security tasks that we perform, they will be handling those. We want to ensure that that's
01:02done as smoothly as possible. Obviously, this scenario complicates that, but it doesn't lessen
01:07our commitment to doing that. Again, we're working with the parties to urge de-escalation
01:11and a longer term solution so that we can continue to set up the Lebanese Armed Forces for success
01:17in the best way possible despite this situation. And we'll continue to do that.
