00:08In a remote tribal village surrounded by forests in Chhattisgarh's Dhamtari district,
00:13reaching school itself means walking along narrow forest paths.
00:18But here, an illiterate woman has become a champion of education.
00:2350-year-old Kaman Bai Kamar from Singhpur village cannot read or write.
00:28Yet, she has done something remarkable for the children of her village.
00:32Using money earned through daily labour, she has donated a computer to the Swami Atmanand Uthakrishth Hindi Vidyalay in Singhpur.
00:41Kaman Bai belongs to the Kaman tribal community, a particularly vulnerable tribal group.
00:48Her earnings come from collecting mahuwa flowers, gathering tendu leaves and weaving bamboo baskets from forest produce.
00:55Every season, she sells what she collects in the market.
00:59And from that small income, she sets aside money for the children studying in the village school.
01:06Over the years, she has donated books, buckets and even a television to the school.
01:12This time, she decided to gift something that would open a new world for the students, a computer.
01:20I do not think I have done something big.
01:23I am not educated, but I want the children of my village to study.
01:27If they have computers, they can learn new things.
01:30So, I have saved money from my work and bought one for the school.
01:35Singhpur village is about 65 kilometers from Dhamtari and nearly 30 kilometers from Magarlod block.
01:41The village has only one school that offers education up to class 12, and for higher studies, students must travel
01:48far.
01:50She lives in a small hut in the village and has raised two sons and a daughter alone after her
01:55husband passed away in 2008.
01:58The computer donated by her is now installed in the school.
02:02Whenever she visits the school, children greet her with smiles and respect.
02:11Children in this remote village will now be able to access basic computer knowledge.
02:17Kamanbhai's initiative is inspiring and it can bring positive change in education in this area.
02:24Kamanbhai says her inspiration comes from her own life.
02:28Married at a young age, she never had the opportunity to study.
02:32Later, when she saw her children going to school, she realized what she had missed.
02:39That is why she wants the next generation to have better opportunities.
02:44Despite earning through daily labor, she has donated computers, smart TVs and books for children.
02:50Her contribution is inspiring and encourages education among tribal families.
02:56Kamanbhai now has another dream, a college in Singapore so that village girls do not have to travel far for
03:02higher education.
