00:00Itoga, diploma, at matamis na tagumpay.
00:03Yan ang pangarap ng bawat estudyante.
00:06Pero sa kabila ng saya, marami rin ang nalilito
00:09kung paano nga ba sisimula ng buhay professional
00:12o ang tinatawag nating adult life.
00:15Tama ka dyan, Profi.
00:16Kaya naman ngayong umaga, bibigyan tayo ng mahalagang tips
00:19kung paano nga ba harapin ang real world after graduation.
00:23Nakakasama natin si Muchi de Guzman, the AI teacher.
00:27Ma'am Muchi, welcome to Rise and Shine, Pilipinas.
00:30Dyan at Profi po ito.
00:32Good morning.
00:34Hello.
00:35Hi, good morning.
00:36Hi.
00:37Ma'am Muchi, we want to know, first of all,
00:39many fresh graduates are asking what life is truly after graduation.
00:45Sometimes they feel an overwhelming pressure to be successful immediately.
00:50How should they handle this?
00:54First of all, I can totally relate on what they're feeling.
00:57I graduated during the Great Recession and like what most feel today,
01:02I felt worried, anxious to enter the workforce.
01:05But here's what I advise people to do.
01:08First is look at the long-term career prospects.
01:13Be patient because success doesn't come overnight.
01:15Make sure to invest your time to build the skills
01:18and to learn from the best and get mentors and be mentored.
01:24The second one is don't follow the crowd.
01:28Don't be afraid of peer pressure.
01:30Set your personal goals.
01:32Stay focused on your goal.
01:34And always do good work, no matter how small or big the task is.
01:39And lastly, the third one is just have fun.
01:42Make friends all throughout your career.
01:45Make sure that you have fun.
01:46This is going to be a long journey.
01:48Make sure to surround yourself with good people who support and encourage you.
01:53Those are very helpful tips para sa ating mga fresh grads.
01:57Now, Ma'am Mucci, when it comes to job hunting,
01:59what are the essential things that fresh graduates should prepare before they start applying?
02:06Okay, great question.
02:08First of all, it's a very competitive job market right now.
02:10So the first thing that I would recommend is fix your resume.
02:14Make sure to customize your resume and cover letter based on what you're applying for.
02:20Don't just cut and paste stuff from AI and put it on your resume.
02:25You can use AI, but make sure that you use it to improve and not to completely outsource creating your
02:32resume
02:32and creating your cover letter when you submit it to HR.
02:36Just remember, there are a lot.
02:38HR can already tell if you are using AI to submit your resume and your cover letter.
02:44So it's best that you write it.
02:46You put all of your projects there.
02:48And the second one, and this is very, very important.
02:51Prepare a portfolio of your work and projects even during your college time.
02:57This can be your project during college, part-time work, freelance work, internship.
03:03Remember that the job market right now is super-duper competitive.
03:07So if you guys can look for opportunities to volunteer or intern,
03:11add that to your portfolio and submit it alongside your resume and cover letter.
03:16All right, Ms. Mucci, how can a fresh graduate determine which career path is truly the right fit for them?
03:26Honestly, the right career path is not something you just find as if we're in a romantic comedy movie
03:33that has the one career path.
03:35The right career path is something that you build over time.
03:39So my advice to fresh grads right now is focus less on finding the perfect job
03:45and focus more on delivering every single work with excellence.
03:50Focus on building your professional brand and focus on building your professional brand with excellence
03:56and carry that stamp of excellence with you wherever you go.
04:01Well, Mucci, I want to know your thought about the generation now, the Gen Z,
04:06because there's an observation about this generation that they are actually jumping from one company to another company.
04:12Now, do you think that's a good thing?
04:14Because most of us from the millennial side, I think we actually focus on one company.
04:19But the Gen Zs now, they have a different, I think, career path.
04:23So what are your thoughts on that?
04:24Because that would be helpful for those who are just starting their career.
04:29So I'm also a millennial.
04:31So I think that it's both good and bad.
04:35It's good in a sense that I also job hop, but I don't job hop like three, six months or
04:42less than a year.
04:43If you will job hop, stay for at least a year or two years and make sure that for every
04:48single company that you touch,
04:50that you leave it better than you started, meaning that you leave your stamp of excellence
04:55with whatever company, project or freelance gig that you interact with.
05:00Because at the end of the day, your career would be made up of your small projects, right?
05:06These would be the things that would make you proud in the future
05:11and what other employers would actually look for in your portfolio and your body of work.
05:17So think of it as your career is your body of work.
05:21Every single job, every single project is a contribution, a deposit to that career bank.
05:27And that career bank will become your career capital.
05:30So what are you depositing?
05:32Are you depositing career jumping and you're just jumping from job to job?
05:36Or are you being strategic with your career jumping, meaning that for every type of project
05:41and every type of job that you're doing, that you're delivering it with excellence
05:46and it's actually work that you can be proud of.
05:49Okay.
05:50Also, college students and especially fresh graduates, they tend to compare themselves to other people
05:57like in terms of their successes.
05:59How can they make sure or these fresh graduates can avoid comparing their own journey to everyone else?
06:08Oh my gosh, that is such a great question.
06:10First of all, if you start comparing yourself to other people, you're not going to win.
06:15Meaning, the moment that you start comparing yourself to other people, that is a losing game.
06:20We can win there.
06:22You cannot win that game because people have different goals.
06:26People have different standards and metrics.
06:29What you should do is that you should have your own goal.
06:31You should have your own standards, your own metrics.
06:34And instead of comparing yourself with other people, celebrate other people, admire their achievements
06:40and give encouragement and support to your friends, to your colleagues, to your peers.
06:45Set your own goals and focus on making yourself the best version of yourself.
06:50Compare yourself only to you and to your standard and compare yourself only if you're reaching your goals.
06:57So the moment that you start comparing yourself to other people, you lose.
07:01And so, set your goals, focus on that, and win.
07:05So kagaya yung sabi mo mamuchi kanina, ba't hindi mo nalang gawin silang mentor?
07:10Diba? Magpa-mentor ka sa kanila at matututo ka pa sa kanila.
07:14Alright, on the last note na lang.
07:15Exactly. And encourage them.
07:17Go ahead, ma'am.
07:19No, I was just saying that encourage them.
07:22Encourage other people and be a voice of support instead of comparison.
07:26Alright. Well, on a final note, ano po yung inyong message sa ating po mga new graduates?
07:31Kasi graduation season ngayon, who are just beginning to reach for their dreams.
07:38Cool. So first, congratulations to all fresh graduates.
07:42I just have some bad news and some good news.
07:44The good news is that congrats, you just graduated.
07:47That is a big milestone to celebrate.
07:49Breathe, relax, and calmly congratulate yourself based on your huge milestone.
07:55The bad news I have is this is just your ticket.
07:59This is just your ticket to the doorway of opportunity.
08:03The next big step is to build your career.
08:06You're now entering the workforce.
08:07It's a very competitive workforce.
08:09Build your practice, build your discipline, build your patience,
08:13and make sure that you make strategic long-term career goals.
08:17Continue to learn, never stop learning.
08:19Take courage, and work on your goals.
08:21And I'm wishing you luck, and I'm wishing you abundance.
08:24And I'm praying and hoping for your success.
08:27Congratulations.
08:29On that note, maraming salamat po, Mutsida Guzman.
08:32Share kami niya lahat ng in-sips ay makatutulong sa ating fresh college graduates
08:36sa pag-arap nila sa real and professional world.
08:39Thanks, Mamutsi.
08:41Thank you so much.
