00:00Hello, here's a video which is more serious than I like to be on here, but I just wanted to
00:04update you of what's going on in the last few days of my life.
00:07I've had a terrible time.
00:12My dad's not very well. Not very well at all.
00:17And it's horrible.
00:19You might have heard Sam and Danny talk about this on Breakfast Show on Friday because I wasn't there.
00:23They were very lovely about it. They told lots of you.
00:26And thank you for sending me a message if you did. It's massively appreciated.
00:30In times like these, it's so nice to feel the love from people.
00:34So if you have a similar situation in your life, just send the message because it's a nice thing to
00:39do.
00:39And thank you to all my friends that have done that.
00:41And for those that don't know what's happened to my dad, I'm sorry that you're finding out on my wildly
00:46popular social media channels.
00:51So he was supposed to go in. Well, he did go in for heart surgery on Thursday.
00:55And I was on the Breakfast Show on Thursday because I thought, that's a good distraction.
00:57I always wang on about how great radio is at distracting you from your life and things are going to
01:01s**t.
01:02It's good for listeners. It's good for the people doing it as well.
01:05So I was happy on Thursday. I thought, that's the best place for me. I love doing that.
01:10And then on Thursday night, we found out that sadly the operation didn't go to plan.
01:14And he, he had a stroke, which is really s**t.
01:21And he's not really there at the minute.
01:23And that's the hardest bit as we've been going in this weekend to the ICU.
01:27And, um, by the way, they're all amazing.
01:30And obviously we love the NHS.
01:32It's the best thing ever.
01:33We should say thank you for every s**t day.
01:35So thanks to the doctors and the nurses and the physios and the surgeons.
01:40They've been, particularly the handsome doctor that he's, uh, having by his bedside.
01:44That's, that's one of the mad things, isn't it, about your brain and about humans and about life.
01:48Is that sometimes the best thing is to be in a WhatsApp group where you're just talking about how fit
01:53the doctor is.
01:54And that's really helped.
01:56Um, I hope he doesn't see this because it's going to be awkward when I next go in.
02:00But, um, why am I doing this video?
02:02Well, I think it's good to share these things.
02:04And, um, you know, life isn't plain sailing.
02:07But you've got to carry on.
02:08And I'm going to carry on.
02:09I'm going to come back on the breakfast show tomorrow.
02:12Uh, you know, mainly because that's what my dad will want me to do.
02:15It's also what I want to do.
02:16And also he really wanted me to do this challenge, which is coming on Friday.
02:20So I've been training my tits off for it.
02:22And he knows that.
02:23And he knows how much it means to me.
02:24So this comic relief challenge, a thousand kilometres on a tandem from Weymouth to Edinburgh.
02:29I'm up for it.
02:30You know, pending something horrible that happens this week.
02:32But I, like, he's steady at the minute.
02:34And I guess slowly but surely improving a bit.
02:37But it's pretty bleak.
02:39Um, so have Big Al in your thoughts.
02:42And, um, and I'm going to really need some support on this challenge.
02:46I know I was anyway.
02:47But it's going to be extra mad and extra emotional now.
02:49So hopefully I can count on you to be there.
02:53Um, right.
02:54Come on then, fatso.
02:55Let's go for a walk.
02:56Cheers.
02:58Cheers.
