00:01A park in West London has been formally designated a local nature reserve by Ealing Council.
00:07Warren Farm in Southall, home to nesting skylarks as well as a variety of wildflowers, butterflies
00:13and bees and other animals, received the classification on Monday.
00:17The designation followed an agreement between the Council and Imperial College London and
00:23Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, the co-owners of land at Warren Farm, allowing
00:28the neighbouring site to be used as a new community sports facility with football pitches.
00:34Peter Mason, leader of Ealing Council, said the declaration established what he described
00:40as a much needed green space for that part of the borough.
