00:04kausapin po natin si Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry
00:07o PCCI President Ferdinand Ferrer.
00:10Magandang umaga po at welcome sa Balitang Halit.
00:13Hi, good morning. Good morning, Connie, and good morning, Rafi.
00:18Thank you for having PCCI in your show.
00:22Yes, Sir Perry, unahin po natin itong mungkahing four-day workweek
00:25sa mga privadong sektor. Ano po ang position dyan ng PCCI?
00:30Pagdating sa four-day workweek, we support all government initiatives
00:36that will save energy, power, or fuel.
00:40But the four-day workweek, inaasahan namin na hindi dapat mandatory
00:45or compulsory sa sektor ng privado.
00:51Hindi lahat makakatupad ng four-day workweek, especially in manufacturing.
00:57Manufacturing, the factory has to run seven days a week.
01:03So, mahirap ipatupad yung four-day workweek.
01:12Opo.
01:25You know, we are shocked when we hear 20 pesos or more.
01:29It will be very difficult to be able to absorb that cost impact on fuel.
02:20ang mag-absorb even temporarily itong potential increase sa fuel natin.
02:27Hopefully, mabigyan ng authority ang si President Marcos
02:32to exercise and to use excess or other means
02:37to be able to absorb the potential increase,
02:40whether this week or next week.
02:43Okay. So, supportado nyo itong minumungkahing ang alisin na o bawasan
02:47itong fuel excise tax.
02:52Yes. Support whatever means.
02:55Because now it's a crisis.
03:07So, whatever means to be able to absorb potential increase in cost,
03:14kami sa private sector, we will support.
03:18Whether it's from excise tax, VAT, or other means and other budgets
03:24or where the funds will come from, from other budget sources.
03:39sa gobyerno.
03:40Ayan ang, and we have to do the balance.
03:45Currently, when the industry o yung merkado cannot absorb this price increases,
03:55pareho rin ang efekto.
03:57Mahawalan, hindi tatakbo ang ekonomiya natin.
04:01Now, what we need to do also is, you know, we import mostly refined products.
04:17But all the other fuel companies import refined fuel products,
04:25gasoline, diesel, and others, which are mostly here sa Asia.
04:28So we should really reach out to the countries,
04:32whether it's South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia,
04:35that hopefully we can stabilize the pricing for a couple of weeks.
04:42And that's when the government intervention comes in.
04:47Ang koreinta natin is mostly the base load comes from coal power plants,
04:54which we import most of our coal from Indonesia,
04:59which dapat kinakausap natin Indonesia.
05:04Walang disruption sa delivery ng coal.
05:07The second one, I think 60-65% come from coal-fired plants.
05:13Then another 25-30% comes from renewable energy,
05:19which we do have, at maganda na lang na medyo maaraw-araw
05:22in the last few days and moving forward.
05:25And we have malampaya.
05:39Okay.
05:40Ano po ang mga nakikita ninyong paraan?
05:42Oh Hakbang, wala po sa gobyerno natin
05:44para mapanatiling masigla yung pagnenegosyo,
05:46tulad ho ng suporta siyempre sa piso,
05:48para hindi daw sumadsad ito?
05:51Now, you know, we need to put temporary measures,
05:55Connie, in place.
05:56Whether it's lowering the excise means needed
06:02to minimize the impact of this fuel.
06:05Alam mo yung four-day work week,
06:07pag tinitignan namin dito sa pribadong sector,
06:10sa private sector is,
06:11Yes, we agree.
06:13That will minimize the cost for the employee.
06:17If you work four days instead of five days,
06:20it will reduce 20% of your transportation cost,
06:24whether it's jeepney, bus, or other means.
06:27Pati rin sa mayroon mga sasakyan,
06:32mamiminimize yung cost to drive back and forth,
06:35and of course, the traffic.
06:36But we also have to consider na pag binabaan ang pagpasok ng mga tao,
06:50All it means is pag ang jeepney is 14 passenger,
06:56pag namamasahe ang mga empleyado,
06:59pag binawasan natin eight passengers,
07:02tatakbo pa rin ang jeep.
07:04Kailangan pa rin tumakbo with less passengers.
07:07Yun lang yung ibig sabihin nun,
07:09similar to bus.
07:10Imbes na 50 passengers,
07:12naging 40 or 30,
07:13tatakbo pa rin ang bus.
07:15That's why ang inihiling namin sa gobyerno
07:18is to really absorb the initial few weeks' impact itong fuel
07:23para makinabang lahat
07:26at to lessen the impact on ating employees
07:31at including the cost of our goods.
07:36Okay.
07:36Marami pong salamat sa inyo pong update sa amin, sir.
07:39At mahaba-habang usapan pa ito,
07:41baka may part two pa ko tayo.
07:43Salamat po sa inyo.
07:44Marami salamat.
07:45Thank you for having the Philippine Chamber of Commerce
07:48and Industry on your show.
07:49Yan po naman si PCCI President Perry Ferrer.
07:54Thank you for having me.
07:54Well, I've had a great pleasure.
