00:00...telling us, and it's really no surprise, he works well with Nate Ramsey, the team manager of that factory, Husky,
00:09rockstar team, and man, it's great to see Dax doing well.
00:21Racing for the final time tonight, racing to have a weekend off, and a reset of sorts.
00:30And there's one guy here on this gate who's going for a perfect night. Can the 18-year-old Cole
00:36Davies do it?
00:43You can see where he's starting. Bike 37 there, five in from the left, from camera left. He's got some
00:52quick guys on his inside. Start as crucial as we've seen.
00:5915 seconds.
01:02He's been very clinical when he's been answering the questions on the podium. It's like, this is what I'm meant
01:07to do.
01:08This is what I expected to do at the beginning of the year.
01:11But we've seen a lot of fire and passion from Bike 30 there, Joe Shimoda.
01:15Third and final race, 2.50 east, here in Indy. Let's go!
01:23Shimoda got a good start on the inside.
01:27Jalik Swole again.
01:29Brown is in the mix.
01:31Ah, two whole shots in a row.
01:33Like you said, a great start for Pierce Brown as well.
01:36Just what the doctor ordered.
01:38Look at Simonson, though.
01:45What a great opening lap. Here comes Jalik Swole, though.
01:49Fighting back.
01:51And does successfully so.
01:53Yeah.
01:54Pushes his weight back up the inside to the lead.
01:57Executed that pass perfectly.
01:59You could see that door opening up.
02:01He angled that motorcycle and he landed off that double off the whoops and cut back underneath Simonson.
02:06Great ride for Simonson to run up here.
02:11He's in his home state.
02:13The rider from Terre Haute, Indiana, has Pierce Brown storming up the inside.
02:18Cole Davies, pardon me.
02:20Davies and Shimoda is a little wide and loose.
02:23Davies gets that position.
02:27There's that triple onto the tabletop that JT was giving us on the Yamaha track report.
02:33How crucial it is, not only in the 450, but the 250 class.
02:39Shimoda working on Simonson.
02:41That was a good audible that Simonson did compared to the first lap.
02:46Meanwhile, look up the track.
02:47Davies has bridged that gap already.
02:50As Joe Shimoda tries to cut back down on the inside,
02:54Davies has taken off, chasing after Jalik Swole in a copy of the second race.
03:02What a ride from Devon Simonson here early on.
03:05Oh, yeah.
03:05Breakout ride for sure.
03:07Keeping the SMX 250 world champion at bay.
03:22This is really cool stuff.
03:25For Devon Simonson.
03:28If he can grab a top five, that would be huge.
03:31Meanwhile, Jalik Swole, what did he take from being in this position in the second race?
03:36Well, I think he took a lot, especially now believing in yourself.
03:45Getting that confidence back, knowing and believing in himself that he can race for these wins.
03:52Reassurance always helps.
03:55It's been a 9-7 result on the 9th.
04:039th in race 1, 7th in race 2 after leading for quite a way.
04:07Here comes Cole Davies.
04:07Look at that run through the whoops.
04:09Wow.
04:10Using up that right side.
04:12You cannot get any closer to the tough blocks that Cole Davies was right there.
04:17And just a great run.
04:20No surprise, though.
04:22He's been using that right side of the whoops all night long for the most part, especially early on in
04:27these races.
04:29JT?
04:30Yeah, Ricky, that line you're talking about there.
04:32You know, it's one of the only fresh parts of the racetrack simply because of the risk involved.
04:38Davies is so close to the tough blocks.
04:40And the only way really through there is it's certainly working for Davies.
04:49Behind.
04:51Pierce Brown, who runs 5th at the moment.
04:5577 of Derek Kelly's having a tremendous run tonight.
04:59Meanwhile, Shimoda still cannot find an avenue by Devin Simonson.
05:04Yeah, Simonson doing a great job.
05:07And Joe just can't get by him.
05:09And he's losing some costly time to have any shot whatsoever to contending for the overall win.
05:16And it's going to be really hard at this point.
05:24Pierce Brown overall.
05:27I mean, looking at the big picture here, this is one of his better triple crowns.
05:32So, not ideal for the championship, but still an improvement.
05:37Here's a pass.
05:39Shimoda on the inside.
05:41Persistence and patience finally pay off for the Honda HRC rider.
05:47Yeah, it'll be interesting to see these next couple laps.
05:49He's four seconds off the lead.
05:52So, see what he can do.
05:56Tell us more, Will.
05:58Guys, when he was on the podium and I was interviewing him there in the last race,
06:02he said, you know, what's your takeaway of where you're at?
06:05And he said off camera, he's like, well, I do have to remember,
06:07this is only my 10th day back riding Supercross.
06:11And it does put it in perspective for me where he's been at,
06:14where he's gotten to, excuse me,
06:16after that injury that you guys spoke about.
06:18It was a very serious injury.
06:20A scary one that he admitted in his own words there.
06:24And when I spoke to Ben Griffin, his mechanic, earlier,
06:27he said he couldn't believe how quickly Joe got back to the pace that he is riding now.
06:33And he just wanted to remind me how incredible that really is.
06:37He also shared with me the Hunter Lawrence,
06:40Joe Shimoda's HRC teammate there in the 450s,
06:43told him, when you get back on a bike, Joe,
06:46I want you to go and ride the track.
06:48There's two tracks.
06:49Oh, he stalled the bike there.
06:50Two tracks at the dog pound.
06:52And he said, go and ride the one that you had your accident at.
06:56Go back and face your fear.
06:57Joe said, okay.
06:58Got back out there.
06:59That was his first day on the Supercross.
07:03Yeah, he stalled the bike right there on the inside,
07:06able to fire it up quick.
07:09Still Simonson having a great ride hanging in there.
07:12He sure is, but he's going to have company in the form of Hamaka.
07:15Oh, this is Brown.
07:16Looks like he hit neutral there, possibly.
07:19Nice save, though.
07:21Yeah.
07:21Nice save.
07:22Hamaka went flying by,
07:23and he has caught Devin Simonson pretty swiftly as well.
07:28That was a good catch,
07:31but a lucky escape as well for Pierce Brown.
07:34Here's that battle is talking about.
07:35Devin Simonson having an outstanding run.
07:38Phenomenal race.
07:40In fourth place.
07:41He's trying to hold off the Daytona winner.
07:44That tells you how good this run is for Devin Simonson.
07:48Sometimes he's riders,
07:49and I go back to his teammate Cody Shock a couple years ago,
07:52having some great rides and establish himself,
07:55and I think that possibly this could be one of those rides
07:58for Devin here and impressive,
08:00and this isn't easy to do,
08:01getting a good start like that,
08:03running up front when these guys are just hounding you.
08:06It's like you're in the hornet's nest,
08:09and he's done a great job.
08:13Quick reminder to stock up on Monster Energy drinks at Kroger.
08:18We see the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki.
08:21It was a top three result in race one,
08:23and unfortunately,
08:24things didn't go to Seth Hamaka's plans in race two,
08:28where he finished ninth.
08:29That hurts him in the overall points thing.
08:31Is Piers Brown trying to come back
08:33after that little hiccup earlier?
08:34He works on fellow Yamaha rider Devin Simonson.
08:37In the background is Devin's teammate Cody Shock.
08:40Then Derek Kelly,
08:41Daxton Benick is a little further back
08:43than where he thought he'd be,
08:45and then Coloured Park and Nate Thrasher.
08:49Whoa, big, chill, big leap
08:51from Cody Shock coming onto the scene.
08:57As the teammates go at it,
09:00through the warps,
09:01two minutes, 20 left on the clock.
09:03Nobody's even close to race leader Cole Davies.
09:07He's on his own level here tonight,
09:11and again, no surprise,
09:13and it's great to see him put it together.
09:16All three races so far here,
09:18just a little bit longer to go,
09:20two minutes plus one lap.
09:24There he is.
09:26He's special.
09:29Certainly.
09:31Tell us more, Will.
09:34Well, Lee, Ricky,
09:35we're looking at a perfect night frame
09:36across these three races.
09:38I find that interesting
09:39as I was talking to his mom,
09:41his mechanic,
09:41the people closest to him today,
09:42they were telling me
09:43what a perfectionist.
09:45Cole Davies is.
09:46You don't necessarily know that
09:47when you meet him,
09:48he's kind of a quiet guy.
09:49They said so much of a perfectionist,
09:51everything is like folded
09:53in his locker in the truck.
09:54Everything's in his perfect place.
09:56His mom told me
09:56that's the way he's always been
09:57through his whole life.
09:59Everything in life is organized.
10:00so he finds it tough
10:01when he hasn't got perfection
10:03in his riding
10:03to let those mistakes go.
10:06That's kind of part of it.
10:07It serves for the good
10:08and the bad
10:08and he's having to sort of like
10:09let that stuff go.
10:10Mistake, move on.
10:12But that's that perfectionist in him
10:14that apparently has been there
10:15his whole life.
10:16Well, and it's obvious
10:17in just his demeanor
10:19when he talks about his results,
10:20whether it be victorious or not.
10:22This is a good scrap for third.
10:24Honda versus Kawasaki,
10:25Shimoda versus Hamaker.
10:27Well, Hamaker's definitely
10:28found his flow here
10:29in the third race.
10:31And it's going to be
10:32a tough night for Hamaker
10:34from a points perspective,
10:36especially after that crash
10:37last moto or last race,
10:39pardon me, in the whoops.
10:41Jalik doing a great job
10:43holding on.
10:44Man, this is going to be tough
10:45to defend that position.
10:46These guys are all over him.
10:48He's only got a couple more laps, JT.
10:52Yeah, and you've got to think
10:53that Seth is really benefiting
10:55from this Triple Crown format,
10:57though, because it's been
10:58a really tough night,
10:59as you mentioned.
10:59But look, as the points
11:01as they run,
11:01he's still going to be
11:02on the podium.
11:03So what could have been
11:04really challenging,
11:05he's only going to lose
11:06five points to the leader.
11:07Right.
11:08It's like, JT,
11:09it's like, this is where
11:10it works out for you.
11:11We talked about, like, again,
11:12could you imagine
11:13that second race
11:14if it was a regular main?
11:15It would have been horrible.
11:17Jalik Swal trying
11:19to grab his second podium,
11:21but it's just evaporated
11:23like that
11:23as both Shimoda
11:24and Hanaka go by.
11:27And now it's the fight
11:29for second
11:29between these two guys.
11:31Final lap.
11:33Cole Davies on his way home
11:35for the perfect night
11:37in Indianapolis
11:40in just his second year
11:42in Monster Energy AMA Supercross.
11:44Last year,
11:45in Glendale,
11:46Davies won
11:47two of the three races
11:48to finish third overall.
11:51Last year in Arlington,
11:52he did win a race,
11:54but he got fourth
11:55and 17th in the other two.
11:57So he finished seventh overall.
11:58Well, scrub those results.
12:01They don't matter
12:02because this 18-year-old
12:04from New Zealand
12:04is going to be perfect.
12:06Good job.
12:07How about great job?
12:11He said last week in Daytona,
12:13if I do what I'm supposed to do,
12:15nobody can touch me.
12:17Well, nobody's touched him tonight.
12:19Triple crown winner.
12:21One, two, three
12:22for Cole Davies.
12:26What happened to Joe Shimoda
12:28coming to the line?
12:29Check this out.
12:30Oh, he's looking back behind him.
12:35Hammacken gets by.
12:37Oh, he gets sideways
12:38in the whoops.
12:39Goes off course.
12:40Oh, boy.
12:41He's got to check up here.
12:44It'll be interesting
12:45to see what the officials
12:47think of that.
12:48I mean, he did check up
12:49and didn't just twist the throttle.
12:53So we'll see what happens.
12:55Look how much this makes
12:56to this young guy.
12:58All business tonight.
13:00One, two, three.
13:02That's a sweet victory
13:03for Cole Davies.
