Hackers associated with Iran have initiated a significant cyber offensive against the United States, focusing on a financial institution, an airport, and a defense technology firm. Cybersecurity specialists caution that this might be the initial phase of a much broader digital confrontation.

The hacking collective Seedworm, linked to Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence, has covertly implanted a backdoor in various systems, granting them prolonged access to conduct surveillance, extract sensitive information, and set the stage for possible future strikes.

This development comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following a large-scale attack by US and Israeli military forces on Iran, which resulted in the deaths of high-ranking officials. With relations at a critical juncture, analysts indicate that essential US infrastructure could now be vulnerable, spanning sectors such as energy, finance, transportation, and healthcare.

The identification of a new malware named “Dindoor,” detected in the US, Canada, and Israel, highlights the extent of the hackers' infiltration. Over 60 cyber organizations have activated since the rise in tensions, intensifying concerns about both disruptive attacks and stealthy intrusions aimed at gaining strategic leverage.

This is more than mere cyber espionage; it signifies a new arena of conflict.
