00:31We've got a lot of sluicing time in so far this season.

00:48but he's spending close to a million a week,
00:51and his gold hauls are slipping.

01:00We've got Mitch with Roxanne on the Indian River.
01:02He's got a good handle on that.
01:07My main concern is the Golden Mile and what we do in there,
01:10because probably most of the gold that we're going to find
01:12is going to come out of there,
01:13but also those pits cannot be left with paying them this year,
01:18and it screws the whole mining plan up if that happens.
01:22So that's my main concern right now,
01:25and I'm probably going to be stepping on Tyson's toes a little bit,
01:29but we just have to stay on top of that.
01:34This season, Parker has foreman Tyson Lee running three wash plants,
01:40with Bob in the bridge cut and Slucifer and Big Red in the Golden Mile,
01:45churning through a combined total of 680 yards of pay dirt an hour.
01:52We have a major problem with the depth of pay,
01:57what's going to happen to us at the end of the season,
02:02and the knock-on effect of what's going to happen to us next year
02:06if we don't get those pits all out, at least out, right?
02:10We don't have to necessarily get them sluiced,
02:13but the dirt can't be in the hole anymore.

02:16Because if the dirt's still in the hole,
02:17we can't strip the next bite into those pits,
02:20and then it's just like the knock-on effect of all of that
02:23causes like a huge amount of pain and suffering and heartache.

02:27It's just where do we put it that we can sluice it once we start stripping?
02:30I think we should start hauling it out.
02:32We have a lot of big waste sites of gravel, right,
02:34that we could just start making pay piles on top of.

02:55Parker's mined the Golden Mile for four months,
02:58but with winter fast approaching,
03:00he's behind schedule with over 300,000 yards of pay still left in the cut.
03:07To get it all out, he's gambling on shutting down both wash plants,
03:12which will cost him three-quarters of a million in lost gold each week.
03:18He'll use the plant crews to help haul the remaining pay out
03:22into two massive stockpiles.
03:25Then he can start stripping overburden from a new cut into the mined out
03:30golden mile, while Tyson's crew races to sluice as much of the pay pile
03:36before winter hits.

03:45because when have we not sluiced something we pulled out of a pit?

11:10ounces and we're looking for 1800. Rick Ness is gambling on turning his season around on a huge
11:18new cut Valhalla but three weeks into the big dig he's still not hit pay dirt and is burning cash
11:27fast. It's easy to give up out here it is you know especially when going wrong like we've had it
11:33it's a mental game you can save up going home this ain't gonna work or or you can put your
11:36head
11:37down work harder and make it work we're fighting for our lives sometimes that's where a guy thrives
11:41and we'll see this year it's a it's a lot to take on but you know I'd raise up for
11:45it. Rick believes
11:48Valhalla has a hundred and sixty feet of overburden that covers a gold rich pay layer. He has already
11:55dug halfway down shifting enough dirt to fill over half of the Empire State Building.
12:02Rick still has to remove another 80 feet to hit an area of gold rich pay the size of a
12:09football
12:10field then sluice it all by the end of the season. I made the decision to extend the cup it's
12:18a risk
12:18no doubt about that but you know with the amount of time that we've got left in the season and
12:23you
12:23know what we've got to work with there's there's really no choice there's definitely no guarantee
12:27this is gonna work but there never is in mining so it's uh you know he's gonna suck it up.

13:18than the last time we did Vegas Valley and I do worry about timing if we have one thing go

14:21with how much gold we brought in this year we haven't even we haven't done yeah that's kind of scary
14:27you know I guess that's another question is you know I mean how do you feel to continue you do

14:49ring it is it's tough yeah I mean I haven't had a summer in three years yeah like going to

14:56just like vacations or just like anything obviously we rely on the gold bonus to you know that's what
15:03we're working for and I don't know if it's there and right now we're barely cutting the bills so I
15:08just wonder you know at what point do you just like have to I don't know just call it a
15:14day and just be
15:16back with us you know how many relationships last yeah and they don't see each other for six months
15:22so you want daddy to keep coming back no no
15:55what scoop honestly had a long talk with Rachel you know I've got to
16:01think about my future and leaving them home alone all the time it's just not easy on them
16:05you know that's uh I don't know I want to be in all different places at once it's tough there's

16:11to think about I I I'll tell you this like as far as people goes um you're you're you're I
16:19mean lack of
16:20a title I mean you're my go-to guy out here it's always gonna be in the back of your

16:26gonna see a bonus this year my family relies on it and I always want to make sure there's food

16:31table and that's that's my number one concern I don't I don't take that lightly you know I mean
16:35I never have and I'm not gonna lie I mean we we don't finish this or we don't get to

16:39of it or we get to the bottom there's no gold this year I don't know how to survive that

16:43when it starts with your head especially when you're in a rock truck all day I think there's a few
16:49things that you're gonna have to ponder about like dude your cut is double now it's a cut man
16:56you know this is aggressive we're hoping the money's in the ground but yeah I I we won't
17:02really know it till we get down there but with the price of gold doing what it's doing it does
17:06not take that much gold to make it profitable all it takes is one bad season to to lose everything
17:12it's a gamble with the amount of gold we brought in I mean we've all talked so everybody's got their
17:18concerns I'd hate to see this crew change I know he's been stressed out I get worried that he might
17:40just call it quits leave us right now just bail on us in the middle of the season because he's
17:45got a
17:45business at home is a family at home and that's a that's a lot to leave behind it's all right

17:57go now as Ryan leaves to take his family home he has a big decision to make it's been a
18:05tough week
18:06you know I got to think about things at home and think about the things I'm missing and think about
18:10the situations I put them in I don't know there's a lot going on got a lot to think about
18:41so you know we got slucifer and big red shut down up in the golden mile we have our sluicing
18:48crew in
18:48trucks in excavators getting that mass volume of pay in a stockpile Parker Schnabel's crew has shut down
18:56both plants to focus on clearing half the remaining pay out of the golden mile by the end of the
19:04week
19:05but foreman Tyson fears it will take longer and cost even more in lost gold you know right now we're
19:14stretched so thin up here at Dominion although we have a lot of resources we have a lot of the
19:19work

20:48golden mile dozing pay into wind roads for the rock trucks to hold to the stockpiles so basically the
20:57best hope we have of kind of staying on target is bringing all the pay out to a big stockpile

21:13to move up until the last few weeks I thought we've had 10,000 ounces in the bag I thought

21:19by now but it's proving to be a bit elusive Sean in the vital extra rock truck is only halfway

21:3115 miles of rough mine roads between the Indian River and Dominion
21:56that's not good I've been hearing this noise and I knew it sounded like a u-joint so this is

23:13truck desperately needed to help Parker's golden mile blitz I just got back to Dominion we do have a
23:20bone yard here we do have a few options I think they've all been pretty ransacked so I'm 50 50
23:28on my
23:29level of hope for that this is where I'm most hopeful this is one from before we ever bought the
23:42place this is the
23:44closest I've ever been to it but the drive shafts obviously been hijacked as well that's a bad start if
23:56we can't find
23:57one we might be in trouble every hour is super important right now for all of our trucks it's
24:07crazy we were running everything 24 7 so we got one more junkyard here it's where things go to die
24:15um it's possible though we gotta never say never you want to come along okay a lot of this stuff

24:26either just junk or taken off of old machines and I mean like you got a bunch of coolant pipes

25:12just seems to be sucking up every single resource I'm sure if he had a hundred people here we'd still
25:18don't feel like there's enough equipment and machinery well it's just crazy busy so I really
25:23need that truck around it we'll get this truck up and running hell or high water it's a pretty
25:36delicate balance speed versus meticulousness try to do both if you overextend in one you fail in the other

25:57to get this thing up and up and running ASAP Tyson's gonna be super stoked we got this thing going

29:30definitely not uh what we want to see a truck down and only have two working you know I'm here

29:36waiting for trucks and you know three is barely enough and two is definitely not enough

31:39the trommel is going through dirt faster than I even thought it would it's almost scary at Paradise
31:46Hill with the trommel now eating through the gold rich white channel pay at over 350 yards an hour Mike
31:54is digging pay dirt in the super pit racing to stay ahead I guarantee you my plant alone does what

32:02three of those uh macons my dad has does the trommel goes through it like wild
32:17hey Colby Colby it's racing here there's no water running through the trommel here I think we might
32:22have to shut it down
32:52yeah Mike can you get here as soon as you can the line blew up the pump made a big
32:57mess here in the
32:57lower yard pipe busted off still pumping water it's a big mess almost washed out the pump it's a good
33:04thing we caught it when we did
33:11if I can actually start sluicing steady for more than two hours I don't drink but this sure is encouraging
33:18the behavior hose just ripped itself off it probably because all the weight from the water and pressure
33:25from up top just created enough pressure to rip the hose right off so now I have to disconnect this
33:31whole thing I'm gonna have to move a check valve reset up this whole thing and then I'm gonna have
33:37to weld the solid steel line no more around I want a solid pipe because every time something blows off
33:50it's cost me so much time and I am so absolutely sick with this thing we gotta pick this up
34:01we're gonna
34:02lift the check valve pick that thing up get that out watch fingers oh that might be the problem don't
34:16touch
34:16there's nothing yet shut it off it's on backwards
34:22the check valve was on backwards so here come here I'll show you the check valve by design is a
34:31stop water coming
34:32one direction right so if it's not like this and it's facing this way check valve don't stop except the
34:41pump from pumping
34:42the trommel is set up a hundred feet high on the hill to protect the pump below from any water
34:50backflow they
34:51installed a check valve but it was put on backwards and the pumps 1500 gallon per minute output built up
34:59enough pressure to blow the plastic pipe off and crack it Mike needs his crew to put the check valve
35:06on the
35:07correct way and replace the cracked pipe with a new metal section to the pump so he can get back
35:14sluicing again if we can take a pipe like this and you just cut a section out of it and
35:21then it already
35:21has the two ends right yeah yeah why don't we take this one
35:39going through the process trying to figure out the angles and then once we get it where we need to
35:44be
35:45then we'll get a better picture of it there's no real mathematical equation you're just doing it by
35:50fit and feel basically it just takes time
36:14it's on now oh it'll be amazing you know that it's rigid or it's going to hold the pressure
36:20Mike will be happy back sluicing and making money at the hill and Tony will probably be happy too
36:27and uh one big happy family
