00:02From Monday to Thursday, Jack Triffitt catches the bus from his home in Gagebrook to school in Bridgewater.
00:08But the bus hasn't been running at the same time on Friday mornings.
00:11Instead, he faces a 25-minute trek.
00:15First off, here is where I walk down the hill here. It's very steep.
00:19And then I would have to walk down a yucky swamp down there.
00:23And then I would have to walk up another hill, which is very rocky.
00:26Jack's not the only one. Other students have to find alternative transport on Fridays and some end up not attending
00:33school.
00:34Jack has been working with the Brighton Youth Action Group for two years, trying to get the Friday bus reinstated.
00:40The whole process has been very hard and very busy. I've been back and forward with Ministers getting emails, phone
00:46calls.
00:47Now he's finally had success.
00:50I have been aware of the situation and we've worked through it and we've reinstated those buses for Jack.
00:55People at my school felt very excited and very happy that they could get to school finally five days a
01:01week.
01:01While Jack has been able to get his problems solved, the Brighton community more broadly faces transport challenges,
01:08with locals saying they struggle to get around within their own suburbs.
01:11Social isolation is a big one. Just not being able to participate in things that others can, getting to medical
01:18appointments.
01:19The council is working on creating better transport connections.
01:23It's pushing for a trial of buses running on loops within suburbs, linking with park and ride facilities.
01:29We have a big population now. The critical mass is there to support this sort of service.
01:34So we just need to respond to that population now and improve the system overall.
01:39The council is working with the state government and Metro to try to progress the plan.
01:44So we just need to stop to walk with the step of the plan.
01:44We have a small mission.
01:45So we have a small mission.
01:46The first, the number of chapters of the province, we see each other's mission.
01:47The first, theόly, the first, the day of the course.
01:48The first, the way they are for the current state of the day,
01:50The next, the third, the number of the street.
01:50The third, the number of stairs is to go into that Isso.
