00:03Connor. Yes. We hear you love languages and accents. Other than Russian, what's your favorite?
00:10Ooh, I'm kind of always switching between languages. Right now, I really want to learn
00:16Spanish. I'm from West Texas, so I've always heard Spanish. And living in LA, there's Spanish
00:21everywhere. So it doesn't feel very, like, exotic to me because I've heard it my whole life. But
00:27I think it's sexy. Spanish is muy sexy. Yes, I think Colombian Spanish, I think, is the
00:36sexiest language there is. I like the traditional Spain-Spanish. Spain-Spanish. Vamos a la playa
00:41de Barcelona. Barcelona. Con Javier Bader. Yeah. Ana de Armas. Ana de Armas. She's Cuban,
00:50right? She's Cuban. Okay. Pretty girl. Okay. This year marks 20 years since Brokeback Mountain.
00:56Are there any MM romance movies, shows, or books that have really stuck with you either
01:00growing up or recently? Well, I love Brokeback Mountain. It was one of the first things that
01:05you told me. Yeah. I love Keith Ledger plays Ennis. I still think it's his best work. I think
01:11that was one of the first pivotal ones when you have two leading men take on, you know,
01:17gay cowboys. It's pretty bold. But then, you know, you have Call Me By Your Name, Moonlight,
01:22I think with Barry Jenkins saying, bringing the art house to the hood is what he said.
01:27That was already just a beautiful juxtaposition. And then having, you know, he said he wanted
01:33to redefine masculinity with that movie, which I thought was so cool.
01:36Yeah. Call Me By Your Name, I think, was like pretty revolutionary. Yeah. Yeah. I was in high
01:40school at that time. And I remember that being the first thing that felt like it was really a part
01:46of the cultural zeitgeist. And it also handled, like, it also handled queer stories in a really
01:52cool way where it was so under the surface and it made it so human, you know, which I think
01:59also
01:59was kind of like a moonlight scenario where we're taking these people in such a specific time and
02:05place and like letting them explore love. Right. What does SMUT mean to you?
02:14I'm going to try to make an acronym. SEXY. This is going to be in relation to, um,
02:20into, uh, Ember and Ice. Um, SEXY. MAGIC. Um, UNIVERSE.
02:31T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T
02:36-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T
02:38-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T.
02:39i have no idea what did i say sexy magic universe um titillating yeah yeah we'll do that titillating
02:50oh you very publicly shot your shot for night wang uh which was extremely fun to watch have you
02:58been a dc fan and what is it like to see fans instantly rally behind you especially the ones
03:02that say you have the face the talent and the butt i will be completely honest i when i saw
03:09like some
03:10fan art of you as nightwing i was like blown away whoa like i i i mean you never know
03:16if that's
03:17going to come to fruition or not but yeah i see like someone did you in the comic book style
03:22i was
03:22like i see it right away wow yeah i would i would love to play him i love dc i
03:28love um i loved all
03:31like comic books that were true to the source material um and i think you know there are a
03:40lot of good filmmakers who like bring their own style to these you know beloved um um comics that
03:47i think it would be really great to work with them you know i'm not fully set on nightwing you
03:51know i'm
03:52open to other things um did you always want to be in like did is superheroes no always something
03:59that's been like i absolutely not it's just it's when really good filmmaker it's it's filmmaker driven
04:05so when like a guy like james gunn um or matt reeves you know comes to comics it i think
04:12that's what
04:12draws me um and and i heard james gunn is doing the the teen titans i know there's yeah but
04:19yeah
04:21james gunn he's in love with you true or false hudson is more like ilia in real life and connor
04:27is more
04:27like shane i think me and you are both like rose and i'm like svetlana i just said me and
04:34you are
04:34both like rose but i'm just i'm just parting ways that's so svetlana for you to say um i don't
04:41know i
04:42mean maybe i do feel like ilia i don't know i think that um i i'm i'm too sensitive or
04:50outwardly
04:50sensitive or don't have a lot of shame around emotion to be ilia i could be a little cocky
04:55like ilia yeah but beyond that it's like i think shane and ilia sort of share us you know a
05:02soulfulness
05:03that's kind of buried under all these you know walls and kind of um uh masks but i think i
05:10think
05:11underneath that what we both relate with both of them is you know the the heart and and their soul
05:16after wrapping heated rivalry you two got matching tattoos that say sex sales and if true how did
05:22that happen um i did i have a reason for coming up to vancouver i just want to come see
05:28yeah come
05:29hang out am i not good enough right come on yeah i just i don't know why for a second
05:33i was like i
05:33have something to do up there i have nothing to do in vancouver i was there so yeah i just
05:39went up to
05:39see um i just came up to see you we knew we wanted to get matching tattoos i hadn't gotten
05:44a tattoo in
05:45forever um and we were just shuffling through ideas and yeah i think you came up with sex but
05:52like we were both pitching ideas and then like one person would like them the other person wouldn't
05:57and then when you said sex sales i was like oh we were sold that's the first idea you've had
06:01that's
06:01good i think it's honestly my most well done tattoo as well so that feels good the front of my
06:06shin
06:06pull in here zoom in true or false you ate a pound of beef of ground beef a day while
06:14filming
06:15heated rivalry true um connor told me what his routine was and after i saw him in person
06:21um i asked him how he got to that size i thought he was taking illicit substances he wasn't
06:27he does it super clean sorry i mentioned illicit substances um but i have nothing to hide bring
06:34it on but he was so just like so i was like what are you eating freak i was like
06:43i'm eating
06:45and he just couldn't speak and he just kept doing that i was like i think that means ground beef
06:50um you're like that level of capability is what i need and then connor is actually the person who
06:55put me onto fiber because if you need to eat the protein you want to get you know iliac cheeks
07:01um and chest you need so much fiber just so your stomach doesn't shut down and you go into cardiac
07:08arrest and you get carried out from your your little workout on a stretcher with some you know
07:13pumped up pecs and a shut down fucking you look you look good digestive system it's really
07:18unfortunate if it ends that way yeah yeah i actually um i'm gonna one up this true or false
07:24i actually think that we ate more than a pound of beef yeah because a pound of beef only has
07:28i think 84 grams of protein and you need a solid 200 if you're going through size and shape so
07:35sometimes i can eat two pounds of ground beef a day plus like 10 eggs yeah and so many salads
07:41i was
07:41having so much salad because by the end i got like gained 10 pounds so like when i started shooting
07:46i
07:46was like and by the end i was like 10 pounds heavier and it was because of yeah yeah you
07:51i
07:51mean you're very inspiring i'm glad that we had each other because it would have been really hard to be
07:55motivated if you know we were going back to our 12 hour days and then the gym and then like
08:00going back
08:00to a residence like alone it's really it's nice that i got to be like hi son let's go to
08:06gym
08:06and we would go from a fucking 11 hour day skating lesson and connor would go let's do legs and
08:13i
08:13and i looked him he's a madman that's how he has a butt he'll finish a skating lesson that takes
08:18four
08:19hours and then go legs now and i was like what are you saying i okay i knew i had
08:25a responsibility
08:26to the people he's america's ass and i i take that very seriously romance readers are famously
08:34passionate about book adaptations did you feel any pressure bringing a beloved story to life and how
08:39did you approach making the characters your own it's good i think to go into a project accepting
08:45that you know people might be disappointed especially with something like a book where
08:50everyone already has preconceived notions they've visioned they've envisioned these characters they've
08:54drawn these characters they've gotten tattoos of these characters like the love is already there
08:59so much that ultimately someone is going to be disappointed all you can do is is read the
09:06material as much as you possibly can yeah and um and respect it show the respect show the dedication
09:14and just hope that people you know connect with it and love it and see that enthusiasm i think we
09:20both
09:20had that level of whether you want to call it nihilism or not like people might just hate this
09:25people might hate your casting or they might hate my casting i'm not going to expect anything more
09:31and uh i'm just going to do the best i can but you have really no metric of if people
09:37are going to be
09:37warm to your your take i really think at the end of the day all you can do is be
09:42really intentional
09:42give it a hundred and fifty percent yeah just go for it you know and luckily for us this worked
09:50out
09:50really freaking well
09:55hudson we have heard rumors about a very serious multi-step korean skincare routine can you break
10:00it down for us it's not that lengthy yeah i always made fun of you for it too because i
10:05like honestly
10:06i'm just kind of jealous because you have really good skin um but i'm always like yeah your skin
10:10routine and then it's actually not that long it's not that long it's okay i'm going to tell you
10:15in the morning i use water to cleanse my face warm water and then i put on a glow toner
10:23but it's pretty
10:24dry it's not like i don't like when people have like dewy like if i see someone it looks like
10:28they
10:28just wore a face mask i'm like why are you out right now like go go wipe that off and
10:32then come talk
10:33to me because i won't right now um and then so my toner and then i'll put on um a
10:38serum
10:40and then sunscreen and then sometimes instead of a serum i put on a moisturizer and then my pm routine
10:46is an oil cleanser you know to get out these blackheads to get the the gunk out um and then
10:52i'll either use like a cerave normal ass cleanser or i'll use like a poor shrinking cleanser that's their
10:59new that's their new slogan survey normal ass cleanser i think that is i yeah i also and then
11:08like a poor shrink or a poor shrinking cleanser if that's my goal and then the same thing toner serum
11:13and then either a retinol or a salicylic acid and then i go to sleep so
11:19so i think everyone in the studio agrees that was a lot well i will also say i mean it
11:25makes sense
11:25you have flawless skin so and then when i take it off it just falls apart yeah he unhooks the
11:32he
11:32unhooks the clip back here in the back keeps it all up connor yes story yes do you have a
11:40favorite
11:40spicy scene from heated rivalry and a favorite from ember and ice what makes those stand out for you
11:44my favorite spicy scene from ember and ice is actually a scene where dane um is with two former
11:51lovers cassandra and elijah yep i need you to i need you to be here with me okay um dane
12:03has an
12:04interaction with uh two of his former lovers um after having been with finn for some time
12:10and uh yeah not to spoil but he he ends up realizing that what what really works for him
12:18isn't working for him anymore and it's kind of this moment of identity loss and you know what what
12:24pleases me isn't pleasing me the same i think that's really cool because it's also it's because
12:29it's cool because it's like sexy and spicy but it also is really revealing of the character and the
12:34connection and where he's at you know um and i think it's funny i think i remember dane saying
12:39something about um he's like he's like and then the next thing i did was i just had to come
12:44up with
12:45uh an excuse and then he's like he's like my friends i have bad news i have a lot from
12:51ember and
12:51ice but one is the lake scene where we kind of go in together and you kind of coax it
12:57out of me without
12:58spoiling too much i think that one's just you know a lot of times like the intimacy before intimacy i
13:04think it has more of a charge in a way that one really got me um frothing at the mouth
13:10and heated
13:11rivalry favorite intimate scene there's one that was really fun to film do you remember filming the
13:17stair step scene when we're like kissing against the glass and our lips never come apart me and you
13:23were like do people do this do people i know it's always a fun balance right of like when you're
13:29filming um separate from like the audio space when you're filming it's like how much of it is fun tv
13:37and then how much of it is like is like true sex because at the end of the day you
13:42know you do have
13:43in real life people do have those those like movie moments where you're like you know you're like yeah
13:48yeah and then everyone on set was like oh yeah no we i've done that and then connor and i
13:52were like
13:53oh oh we usually fold our clothes place them down then go we're both chain naked and go sex now
14:00sex
14:01now i'm robot plug me in true or false hudson's roommates once kept a mooning tally of how many
14:09times he flashed them do you know how many times i know that you i've yeah i remember this yep
14:16it's true
14:17it was one roommate um and i i mooned him 31 times what was his reaction when you moved him
14:25was he
14:26like hudson her poor name was chelsea i i have talked with her and chelsea has been like you can
14:32say my name and i was like so i've since talked about this since double consent uh double consent um
14:38and uh poor chelsea would just go i think her main reaction was like oh it's an aw and it
14:47made me so
14:48happy where where is chelsea now and i i developed different techniques over the years um she's chilling
14:56she's got a cat that's like hanging off her walls um but i would go and i would do like
15:00a drive-by i had
15:01all these different techniques and then she would bring like other you know um romantic interests
15:07home and then they're like what's this tally up on the board and they're like oh that's how many times
15:11hudson my roommate has mooned me and they were like would you just like kind of butt crack it or
15:17would you full so i had one where i would get pants low like i would de-pants and she
15:22would be
15:23unassuming like maybe on her phone on the couch and i would run by and jump in the air so
15:28i was like a
15:30like like a like a literal moon a literal moon but in fast motion sometimes i would just do the
15:35like
15:36oh drop something before we leave bend and i'm right there gotcha oh god
15:42yes no they they got very athletic but we need to clarify if you were going to moon someone yeah
15:48a
15:48close friend chelsea is still my make it make it known that this is okay yep she got a do
15:54not moon
15:55moon people you don't know in places it's not okay hudson as an asian actor leading such a hugely
16:02popular queer romance what kind of stories or roles are you excited for more people to see you in going
16:07forward hmm yeah i i wanna i wanna represent my my wajins out there you know um i've been declared
16:18do you know about this i'm declared the i think princess or prince of wajia me i mean i i
16:27sign off
16:27on it okay i think you he's the final stamp off guy for this so uh yeah i'm the i'm
16:34the ambassador of
16:35wajia as a fully as a completely caucasian yes but uh as as uh this um little wajian i am
16:44i hope
16:45to just do roles that aren't always charged with you know i'm happy to do roles that are you know
16:52race has something to to play in there but also i just want to be an actor and a lot
16:57of the times i
16:57just want to play parts where it's like i'm i'm just there and we don't need to go in my
17:02backstory or
17:03whatever it's just you know i'm playing with any other uh non person of color would play as well
17:11you know you're a person you want to be treated i'm a person love it baby on both heated rivalry
17:17and ember and ice you worked with an intimacy coordinator um why do you think that role matters
17:22on projects like this was there anything about the process that you think would surprise people
17:26wow i mean i think it's so um yeah that's a yeah that question is i mean it's so important
17:33i mean
17:35you you literally can't do things without that role um the thing that i think would shock people about
17:43the role of intimacy coordinating is it's not just about and this is what i learned from chayla
17:49originally and then also jamie doing this it's not just about the actual safety the boundaries
17:55monitoring what's going on what that looks like making sure everyone's okay there's also actually
18:01a conjunction of an artistic edge where you are like jamie with this you know was also the voice
18:08that was reminding us this is how long it's been since this happened you know you need to i need
18:14to
18:14hear that shiver or that i need to hear those um i need to hear that feeling through your wings
18:20i
18:21need to see that come about i need to feel that pleasure in this way so it's not always technical
18:26even though that's what i feel like is brought up a lot there is also an artistic sensibility to that
18:31job and that really promotes that conversation absolutely bring in the first ginger ale this is so
18:39fun we have canada dry we have schweps we have can you can someone give me a rundown of the
18:45brand
18:45nope you're gonna try it and we're gonna go i don't i've only named two from memory well how about
18:50this i'll hold it so we don't we don't give away anything yeah that's my hudson that's my hudson
19:03that's not canada dry this is some shitty american ginger ale this is like schweps or like
19:11um yeah that's my guess it you said it's not canada dry why is it not canada dry yeah canada
19:16dry has got more ginger in it and more bubble in it it's just subtle ginger yeah go ahead and
19:23should
19:23be deep blindfold you god we got you where is this imported from this this is this is no no
19:36way
19:36it says it says from frisco tex nope i don't i don't this is it changed it changed bring in
19:45ginger ale
19:46number two that is so embarrassing thank you so much this one was that one was canada dry what is
19:55this
19:55one i'm good um num num um num you're my baby drink more okay this is cough syrup this is
20:08this is yellow
20:10snow what is this a pissy pineapple but that's the brand hudson i have to guess the brand
20:19that bye yeah this is schweps okay this one is schweps
20:28i am so happy that i'm not the one tasting these because if i was getting them wrong
20:34i'd feel like an idiot no i'm kidding stupid no you're not i mean they they really set you up
20:44give
20:44me another one do you have more bring me bring in how many more bring in the last to me
20:53oh this one's a hard one thank you
20:59oh no
21:04uh-huh that's um that's fever tree ginger um um beer hudson what what what what there's a
21:20there's a secondary flavor
21:25do you want to smell test too you want to do like no it's just ginger no but do like
21:30an aromatics test
21:34go full som vibes do you smell that oh it's hard to it's hard to smell it's fucking ginger pear
21:43fucking it's ginger yeah i'm gonna be honest he would never be able to under you can't taste that
21:48flavor at all what blood orange good job you can't taste that at all you put food coloring in you
21:56didn't
21:56put no blood orange in there i will say i kind of like this one though now that sounds nice
22:00i like all
22:01of them but i guess the brand did i not you killed it when did you first realize you clicked
22:07and what are some of your favorite memories from working together i would say our first facetime
22:14outside of a chemistry read because at that point i was always shane he was always
22:17ilia but then when we first met over facetime before we went to toronto um
22:23um we had so many like so much overlap of movies we liked actors we liked um art we liked
22:31and similar
22:31approaches to how we you know like to perform um that i immediately knew i think we clicked there
22:38and i think that's saying a lot because i think some of our our interests can be pretty niche the
22:43fact
22:43that there is overlap is amazing yeah and favorite memories i would say all our laughs on set being in
22:51muskoka um was really beautiful there was a lot of like lounging around um you know it was just great
22:59my favorite memories of working with you are also the laughs what's what's like an inside joke that we
23:05just died over the whole time um we had a storm the set that was also with oh yeah i
23:12would always be
23:12like storm bus if we couldn't afford extras our idea was we would just like do like a cattle call
23:20we used to joke that like we um because we would have like airport scenes and stuff where there
23:24would be like you know for an airport you need like you need a bunch of people and we'd have
23:28like
23:29five people and i just imagined um i imagined jacob being like being like costumes get up there and
23:36everyone's like taking off their mics and he's like storm the set opening the garage and just like
23:42opening it up to the public how does it feel to accidentally launch a workout movement
23:49i can't i honestly still cannot believe that that was someone's takeaway from this you know i like i
23:56think i look a little too shabby i'm i'm in the process of gaining weight you know now yeah i
24:01was
24:01when you look you look freaking fantastic well bring it back to me yeah i people people like our
24:16bodies let's just be honest about it people you know i care about my health i care about my fitness
24:22as as do you um honestly watching the show is making us work out even more yeah so what drew
24:30you to doing a fae romantic story and what was it about the script that hooked you for me it
24:34was
24:36exploring sensuality with with your voice you know that's the only tool you have and it kind of scared
24:42me a little bit and you know that there it was a really fun way to explore yourself it was
24:48fun it was
24:48actually fun and you know it's very demanding and it's well written i think in the booth the term
24:57winged hemingway came up you know fantastical hemingway because there was like war there's like
25:03this romance that's forbidden and it seems doomed uh in a lot of ways um and that was way heavier
25:13than i
25:13thought you know this would look like and it was really rewarding the story just moves really well
25:19too um it was just written really well uh as someone who you know is not a big reader i
25:27think
25:27something like this would be really appealing to me um just the way it it cycles through the feelings
25:33it cycles through the years and point of view yeah yeah i just think it's really like almost
25:38physically well done why do you think mm romance resonates so strongly with women right now
25:45hmm yeah we've we've both talked about this and kind of been intrigued by it um there's so many
25:51reasons there's so many reasons and then even just women you know there are straight women there are
25:56trans women there are um gay women like queer women it's it's um well that feels like a giant term
26:03to
26:03be like i know exactly what um you know there's like the element of you can live vicariously and
26:09you can feel safe um like with women this is just one opinion that i had never even considered or
26:15thought of um that i saw that i think you're alluding to which is if you are female um and
26:22you are
26:24you are taken out of the equation there's and you're you're there's a spectatorship to that
26:31there's like a there's a certain amount of separation that allows for safety you know
26:37like especially women um historically being put into a box in a certain way especially when it comes
26:42to sex and pleasure it feels like a nice separation to see sexuality and romance be lived out without
26:50um right female dynamic being yeah i i heard i heard someone online say a woman say that like
26:55like when you see like a hetero um couple you know you default to like relating with or forced to
27:03sort of relate with the woman character um and then that comes with a lot of restriction and two and
27:07like imagination a lot of writers you know are writing very conventionally um which means a lot of
27:14outdated tropes um old archetypes and i think you know with getting to watch two men it's like they
27:20can kind of relate with this person in one moment they're empathetic to this person they're not forced
27:24into a box of here this is your person to relate with at the end of the day though we're
27:29both men

31:11true yearner i'm a sucker for a good romance the yearning is is the thing i think that's that's
31:17probably the sexiest part for people honestly you want to know how we got these bodies if you yearn
31:21enough your ass gets fat despite all the memes i have enjoyed people seeing that physical intimacy
31:28isn't just spice on top of the romance but a vehicle to explore relationship dynamics
31:32and character and also physical and emotional intimacy are different but connected things
31:37jacob talks about this and that was one of the first things i think he brought to us
31:44to try and explain his vision which was you know when you read the scripts when you read the pages
31:49it
31:49can sound very sex heavy but to know that the sex really is just the foundation of their
31:55relationship and how they connect um yeah i think that is i think that i think that's kind of you
32:01know for the first years of their life that's how they communicate that's where their relationship
32:05builds and you know that's not usually how sex is used in media yeah yeah me dear i need hudson
