Wuthering Heights is often referred to as one of the greatest love stories in literature, but now that it’s one of the latest book-to-screen adaptations on the 2026 movie schedule, how much is the movie starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi really going to make us swoon? Writer/director Emerald Fennell has previously revealed her hopes to specifically make it this generation’s "Titanic," but it shares one big difference with the epic: it’s rated R.

When CinemaBlend’s Hannah Saulic spoke to Emerald Fennell on the movie, she discussed her thoughts on the movie’s R rating. Was she conscious about James Cameron’s movie being PG-13 rather than R?

00:00I'm obsessed with this movie. There's so much I want to talk to you about, so I'm just going to
00:03dive right in.
00:04I read that you said that you wanted Wuthering Heights to be this generation's Titanic.
00:09And I know Titanic is PG-13 and this is rated R.
00:12So I was curious if that was something that you were conscious of at all while you were making the
00:15movie.
00:16God, what a good question.
00:17Well, I mean, I think, to be honest, when it comes to ratings, I always find it a little bit
00:22baffling because I don't think I think this is, you know, it's not it's it's very it's much more of
00:28a romance.
00:28This movie than I think people are expecting.
00:32And so, I mean, I think that lots of teenagers will be able to watch this movie as long as,
00:40you know, an adult brings them.
00:42And, you know, I think it's I think you just have to make the movie that you want to make
00:47that feels right to you and then, you know, not worry too much about things like ratings.
