00:00Justice, we gotta talk about that twist.
00:02I know, right?
00:02How did you react when you found out
00:04what was going to happen with your character?
00:06How did I react?
00:08I said, what?
00:12What?
00:14It was really cool.
00:15It was something that I really wanted to curate with Ruben
00:20to make sure we were hiding our hand,
00:23as magicians often do.
00:26So there was a lot of crafting of what Charlie's
00:30front-facing persona is versus who he really is.
00:34I guess we'll explore who he really is in the next movie.
00:40I hope so.
00:41I hope we get to.
00:42And what was it like filming that reveal with Rosamund?
00:46I think I'll have the visual of your silhouette
00:48burned in my memory forever.
00:49That was so cool.
00:50Rosamund Pike is one of my favorite people
00:52that's ever walked this earth.
00:53I would marry her if I could.
00:57A lot of things would have to change for that to happen.
01:01I love her so much.
01:02She's just like an actor's actor,
01:04which I just, it's so refreshing
01:06because like there's so many actors you meet
01:08who are just like really jaded,
01:09but like she just loves the craft of it.
01:11And so like she really encourages other actors
01:14to like delve into the craft of it.
01:16It makes me feel like a theater kid again.
01:18Yeah.
01:18Well, it was pitched to me.
01:20So I knew when I first spoke to Ruben,
01:25he wanted to speak to me before I read the script,
01:28which is sometimes a red flag,
01:30because you think is that because the script isn't very good.
01:33But I think he just wanted to put his own version of it out there.
01:38And he said, you know, it also, you know,
01:40perhaps the Veronica character isn't there yet,
01:43but we would work with you too, which is very nice.
01:49And I think, you know, with having some experience of playing dubious characters,
02:02I thought there's always a fine line between somebody being really bad and evil
02:07and kind of holding you at arm's length.
02:11And I think the best villains are the ones that are fun to watch.
02:15And it was finding where that sweet spot was for this character,
02:19which is something to do with, you know, her own sense of self-worth,
02:24which gives her further to fall.
02:27And obviously the twist with Charlie is brilliant
02:30and it ties into sort of South African history
02:34and the kind of dubious nature of the diamond trade
02:39and, you know, the complexity of social dynamics in that country.
02:46And, you know, I think it's quite, it's a startling and, you know,
02:53quite emotive twist for one of these films.
02:56I think it's quite brave.
02:57Yeah.
02:58And, you know, to actually tie the villain to the Horseman is a brave move.
03:03Yeah, I know. I loved it.
03:05And, like, I think the image of Justice's silhouette will be burned into my memory.
03:09Oh.
03:10What was it like filming that moment with him when you guys, like, had that face off?
03:13Oh, I mean, it was, it was, it was brilliant.
03:16I mean, Justice is a fantastic actor.
03:19And, you know, you see one, I don't, you've seen the film once or twice?
03:23When you watch it again, you will see, you know, the subtlest of ways that Charlie is,
03:30that Justice is playing a story that you don't realise is happening the first time you watch it.
03:36He has every moment keyed in of what he needs to be happening and how he's seeing it,
03:40which is different from how the other two are seeing it.
03:43And you realise, you know, he is playing the mastermind and it's brilliant.
03:47I am so full of admiration for him.
03:49And, you know, he hadn't, he was very secretive about his South African accent
03:54and he didn't really disclose it to me until that scene.
03:57So when this truly South African voice came out of Justice in that scene,
04:02it was electrifying and disturbing and scary, you know.
04:08We, we spent, we spent a long time and they'd given ample time to shoot that sequence.
04:14And yeah, it was a great denouement. It was great.
04:18And then we had to, we shot it in studio.
04:20And then obviously we had to pick it up as though it had been a set in the Louvre in
04:24Abu Dhabi.
04:25Still there is nothing we could do if
04:26Still there's nothing we should do,
04:26But one friend.
04:27Still there's nothing we could do this.
04:28Just in the Louvre stehton,
04:28just like this Lemieux,
04:29house, you know your Instagram,
04:29You
