00:00I didn't know the show, I'd never seen it, and I was, in a way, I was kind of glad,
00:05you know, I knew them all, I knew the actors, and I knew them, and I know everyone was loving
00:10it, but I thought I'd just come to it completely, naively, and fresh, and go and have some fun, and
00:17see what happens, and I walked into this incredible bunch of, this world that they created, it was absolutely extraordinary.
00:25How do you carve out a brand new character for something that's so deeply steeped in legacy?
00:31Well, Steve done that.
00:33Yeah, he brought me, and we really did, I was in America at the time, and we got on the,
00:39you know, thing, and when it was, originally when it was written, it was much more aristocratic, and regimental, and
00:48all of that, and I said, can we flip it, and make him like a geography teacher or something?
00:54You know, I just thought, you know, and working class, and all of those things, so he could communicate with
01:00the people he needed to communicate with.
01:02I thought the other guy, they would have kicked him right out, so, and Steve was all over there, and
01:08that's when we started going down that road.
01:11What's it like to work with him as a storyteller who's lived in this for so long?
01:15Steve, you mean?
01:16Oh, it's just incredible.
01:18He's been really funny as well.
01:22Yeah, it's, you know, when you've got a good writer's about, it makes your job so much easier.
01:28It's quite wonderful.
01:30What do you think the fans will be most excited to see about this franchise on the big screen as
01:34opposed to the TV?
01:36I love that it's, I wish it was staying in the cinemas longer.
01:39I really do, I think it would be fantastic.
01:41It's that whole thing of sitting in a room full of strangers watching something and all seeing something different.
01:47There's something wonderful about that.
01:48I wish it was going to be a lot longer, to be honest.
01:51But I think there's a lot of good stuff in this.
