Tencent, a major player in the gaming industry, emphasizes the importance of AI and ecosystem partnerships in its growth. The company plans to expand its innovative technologies and know-how from China and Asia to the rest of the world, with a focus on AI and globalization. Fred Sun, General Manager of Tencent Cloud Europe spoke to CGTN Europe.

00:05Well, gamers around the world will instantly recognize these video games.
00:09They all have one thing in common.
00:10They're either fully or partly owned by China's biggest company.
00:14At the World Mobile Congress, Ken Brown caught up with Fred Sun,
00:19the general manager of Tencent Cloud Europe.
00:22I think definitely in China, AI is developing really fast,
00:25and Tencent as a player in AI, we have a vast amount of operation
00:31with a lot of user and a lot of data.
00:34So we take advantage of that and be able to train models
00:40and also find the right scenarios in AI application.
00:44Do we need more collaboration and not so much competition within AI?
00:47Absolutely. We believe the power of ecosystem partnerships.
00:52We cannot achieve where we are today in Tencent.
00:55Without the open ecosystem.
00:57As you know, WeChat itself is an open ecosystem
01:00with over 7 million mini programs,
01:02and most of them are third-party owned.
01:04This is how Tencent grew, and this is in our DNA.
01:07What are you most excited about with Tencent moving forward?
01:11AI, I talk a lot, and globalization.
01:14And these go hand by hand.
01:15I feel we are at a turning point where we are confident enough
01:20to take a lot of the innovations, the product capabilities,
01:23the know-hows that we have accumulated in China and Asia
01:27to Europe, to the rest of the world,
01:29and I'm very excited to be part of that journey.
