00:14Our respondent Amirah Ayman is on the ground at Dubai World Trade Center and join us now with more from Dubai.
00:19I am here at the Dubai World Trade Center where the JITEX Global 2025 is underway.
00:30It's the world's largest technology and AI exhibition running from 13 to 17 October across more than 40 exhibition halls.
00:39Over 6,500 companies from around 130 countries are showcasing latest innovations in AI, mobility, cyber security and sustainable technology and beyond.
00:53The event is expected to attract more than 180,000 attendees from around the world, including government delegations, tech leaders, start-up researchers and investors.
01:05Walking through this vast hub of innovation feels like stepping into the future.
01:11Towering displays like robotics, AI labs, smart city prototypes, mobility solutions and cyber security fortresses stretch as far as the eye can see.
01:23Governments and the private sector alike are unveiling next generation projects with over 400 government entities participating this year.
01:32In his remarks, the UAE Minister of Economy, Abdullah bin Tok Al-Mari, said that artificial intelligence should be viewed as a core element of national sovereignty, equal in importance to defence and also cyber security.
01:48He urged governments to allocate dedicated budgets for AI development, noting that real race for technological advancement lies not between nations but in each country's ability to adapt and innovate effectively.
02:04Abdullah also explained that AI represents a sovereignty issue, emphasising that every nation competes primarily against its own readiness for the future rather than external rivals for dominance.
02:17He further highlighted the need to develop robust infrastructure, nurture skilled talent, align strategic efforts and empower small and medium enterprises to prepare for an AI-driven global economy.
02:31Drawing parallels between the AI transformations and the previous industrial revolution, he noted that the ultimate goal is to remain unchanged, to enhance human efficiency and its capability.
02:44He observed that human progress has always been driven by adaptation and reinventing with each revolution from agriculture to automation, propelling society forward to improve speed and performance.
02:59Abdullah also encouraged governments and businesses to see AI as driver of re-skilling, describing it as an opportunity rather than a threat to employment.
03:10And now, as Ditex Global 2025 sets the tone for region's digital decade, the UAE's message is clear.
03:19Artificial intelligence is not merely a tool of progress but a pillar of sovereignty.
03:25From government strategies to private innovation, the race ahead will not be defined by who builds faster but who adapts smarter.
