Just two days before the global observance of International Women’s Day, members of the militant women’s alliance GABRIELA stage a spirited protest outside the Department of Justice in Manila on Friday, March 6, demanding the immediate release of 135 women human rights defenders.

The group also called for the humanitarian release of sick and elderly detainees, as well as new mothers, saying many of the women remain in detention centers nationwide on what they described as trumped-up charges for advocating the rights and liberties of the oppressed. (via Mark Balmores | MB)
