00:00between the races you've been both a test driver and a race driver what differences are there in
00:05the way you approach those roles interesting question crofty they're two very different
00:10mindsets i mean when i tested for bar we had full in-season testing where per driver you'd cover up
00:17to 15 000 kilometers per season and in that role it was more about working for the team trying to
00:23help them improve the car and drive as systematically as you could so that that data could be analyzed
00:28in the most consistent way when you're lining up on the grid for a race however your frame of mind
00:33is
00:33all about what you can get out the situation on that day and the car's the tool to help you
00:38achieve
00:38what you want you still want to focus on setup of course but it's more about the here and now
00:43getting yourself as far up the field as possible and less about development work for the future
00:50well then after an exciting qualifying session yesterday let's take a look at how the cars line
00:55up daniel ricardo starts from pole position today and starting alongside in p2 is sebastian fettel
01:01looking down the rest of the grid we have hamilton reikkonen valtteri bottas and verstappen
01:08holkenberg perez van dorn and esteban occo grosjean magnuson carlos sainz and alonso strolle
01:16sirotkin brendan hartley and pierre gasly ericsson and charles leclerc rounds off the grid now it's
01:24almost time to lights out so let's go down to the track right let's be patient going into turn one
01:34we want to be in a good position for the rest of the race good luck

08:37so
08:47so
10:07Welcome to Sao Paulo, which has been host to Formula One races since 1973.
10:12Sit back and relax for what's going to be a fantastic Brazilian Grand Prix.
10:22Welcome to Sao Paulo.
10:24Interlagos, always a very special race here in Brazil.
10:27It's a 2.7-mile circuit with nine lefts and six rights for a total of 15 corners.
10:33But it's a wet one today, so grip and visibility will be at a premium.
10:37And the drivers will need to be careful coming up the hill in Sector 3, the scene of many an
10:41accident over the years.
10:46Joining me on this very wet day is a man who's no stranger to driving in miserable conditions.
10:52Anthony Davidson, you've driven an open cockpit, you've driven sports cars.
10:55How does the wet weather experience change between the different disciplines?
11:00Well, I wouldn't say there's much difference in all honesty.
11:02You know, besides the terrifying closing speeds you find in sports cars, with the different categories all sharing the same
11:08track,
11:08driving in the rain is, well, driving in the rain.
11:11Of course, the biggest difference between the two is the closed cockpit versus the open cockpit.
11:16You get the luxury of staying dry in the sports car, but if your screen ever gets dirty, well, that's
11:21a pit stop.
11:22Not just wiping your visor or pulling away a tear-off.
11:26But most of the time, you know, they're both as miserable as each other, to be honest.
11:30So before the off, let's remind ourselves of yesterday's qualifying session with a look at the starting grid.
11:36Lewis Hamilton lines up on pole position, and Max Verstappen lines up alongside.
11:41Looking down the rest of the grid, we have...
12:02And with lights out just moments away, it's time to go down to the track.
12:11Okay, remember to protect the inside on the rundown to turn one.
12:14Make yourself as wide as possible.
12:16Robust, but fair.
13:00We're looking good from the start.
13:02We're looking good from the wind.
13:32So
14:37I don't know.
15:24I don't know.
15:34You are in first position.
15:36Front of the pack.
15:37Verstappen is behind you.
15:38Our gap behind is 3.3 seconds.
15:42They're on fresh Inters.
15:44This is your final lap.
15:45Final lap of the race.
16:53Superb driving.
16:54That's the race win.
17:04Brilliant stuff from Mercedes today.
17:07That's another historic win.
17:10So Ant, how exactly did they set themselves apart from the pack today?
17:15Well, I think the track conditions just really suited their car today.
17:18Wind, track temperature, you name it.
17:20These cars come alive when the tyres are just at the right temperature.
17:24So the more easily you can keep them there, the better your race tends to go.
17:27And that's exactly what happened.
17:29Their car just looks so comfortable out there.
17:32And here are our podium drivers today after that excellent race.
17:36They've excelled here as they so often do.
17:39And it's a well-deserved victory.
17:41Mercedes then are on top today.
18:07Moving on to the driver of the day then.
18:09Anthony Davidson, who would you go for?
18:11Ah, well, it's got to be Lewis Hamilton.
18:13He was fast, decisive, everything you'd want from a top-class driver.
18:17That's it for today's Grand Prix.
18:19And from Ant and I, it's goodbye.
18:21And see you again next time.
19:11We'll see you again next time.
19:22We'll see you again next time.
19:44We'll see you again next time.
