00:00Hey y'all, it's Carlos Greer and I am here with Matthew Knowles. Matthew, he's going viral right
00:06now and I'm going to tell you why. So the other day we received a tip about an interview that
00:12Matthew did maybe a month ago and I called Matthew, we talked about it, and then the video was leaked
00:20of him answering a question about his ex-wife, Tina Knowles. Take a look.
00:26You've earned your flowers. I said the same thing to Tina Knowles. You guys put in the
00:32work and obviously the talent was there with your kids and your grandkids. What work is
00:38she good at? In the hair, clothing, the styling, the imaging. She claimed to have preyed on
00:52the name and different aspects of that. Sure. Sure. Yeah. It's a joint effort.
01:03We'll stop now. So Matthew, in the interview, when the local anchor here in New York City,
01:09Kendis Gibson, he asked you about Miss Tina Knowles. He said that he was trying to give you both your
01:14flowers and you asked him, what did she do? What did you mean by that?
01:19I think I calmly, what I said, and I'm actually quoting, what work did she put in? It was a
01:27question. Look, I don't do interviews, Carlos. I have conversations. Yeah. And I have the right
01:35as, you know, I'm a college professor. I didn't know what he meant by that. So I'm saying calmly,
01:43what work did she put in? That was a question. I don't know how that became a comment, but it
01:50was
01:50a question. And then the gentleman went on to say her hair. Well, Tina did way more than just her
01:59hair. And if you look at the interview, I said her hair. No, she did the styling, built an image
02:08for
02:09Destiny's Child. Wouldn't you agree that that's way more than just saying someone did the hair?
02:14No, absolutely. I think a lot of people are familiar with Destiny's Child's story. I mean,
02:20they're one of the biggest female groups of all time. And so I think a lot of people felt like
02:23it
02:23was an awkward moment. It certainly appeared to be awkward. And I think people wanted clarity because
02:29they know what Miss Tina has done. They, of course, know your legacy with Destiny's Child.
02:33Yeah, I'm confused because if someone diminished what Tina does and just say she did the hair,
02:42and then I come back and say, no, she did the styling. Isn't that me giving flowers that she did
02:49more than just hair? And you just diminished her to she just did hair? That's why I'm just so baffled
02:58by
02:58all of this. But I tell you, Tina and I have a wonderful relationship. You can't even find a
03:06negative comment I've ever said about Tina. So I don't get it. I do get it. I mean, people try
03:16to
03:17bait us all the time to be against each other. There was a complete misrepresentation here. And I'm
03:25evaluating all legal remedies at this time. What do you mean by that? I won't have any more
03:31comments. Okay. So speaking again of Miss Tina, when I've interviewed you, you have spoken fondly
03:37of your ex-wife. My former wife. That's a negative term. Ex-wife. I've never referred to Tina as my
03:47ex. I'm always positive. She's my former wife. And I give her the respect of that rather than saying
03:53being ex. Well, Matthew, what is your relationship like today? And did she respond to this video?
03:59I don't know if she responded. Are you asking if she responded to me?
04:03Did she respond to you? Yeah. Did she call you up?
04:05No, no, not at all. Not at all. We have conversations all the time. We are parents of
04:12two amazing kids and three grandkids. So we just, our family is not that way. I'm very disappointed
04:23that people are positioning this that way, just simply because I asked the question.
04:30These conversations aren't one way when you're sitting down that I can't ask you a question,
04:36Carlos. I think that's what you'll see in the future as what we used to call interviews will
04:45become conversations. So we talked about that interview a bit the other day. And I mean,
04:51you told me, you said that he, the interviewer arrived late and you were ready to pretty much,
04:57you're ready. You're over it, essentially. You know, you've spoken to him, given him time.
05:01And that was the end of the interview. I think a lot of people, I just want to clear that
05:04up.
05:04So you didn't storm out. No. Yeah. So can you talk about that?
05:09My sugar's hand took photos afterwards, the whole bit. As I said, I had someone downstairs
05:16waiting. It was a full day of back-to-back-to-back meetings. And so I had to get going.
05:23But I
05:23wasn't there to talk about Tina. I was there to talk about Destiny's Child, a kind of reimagined
05:29tribute. And somehow, we talked 20 minutes of that, and two minutes of this conversation has
05:39taken over what the whole meaning of what the conversation was about. So look, I don't get
05:47upset, man. Carlos, that's why I wanted to come on today. But you know, I haven't read because I
05:53don't read social media like that. But my publicists are saying, for example, that I'm helping
05:59something against women. All I do is support women. I'm a breast cancer survivor. I've been
06:05talking about, you know, early detection on breast cancer since 1980. So that's a foolish comment. But
06:13look, we're in a different age, and I know it. But I just encourage people, read the print. Don't just
06:21look at the video. Read every word that was said. And you will see I was supporting Tina, that she's
06:28more than just a hairstylist.
06:31Well, Matthew, you mentioned the Destiny's Child tribute concert. That's why you're doing interviews.
06:37What's been the response to that? And when's the next show?
06:41And thank you for asking. We've done Chicago, New York, Houston, Los Angeles. We've been to six
06:50major cities on the 26th or 27th. I don't have it in front of me. And Nashville will be the
06:57next
06:58Destiny's Child iconic reimagined tribute. And every show has been sold out. Overwhelming response. And
07:07you'll be able to go by Friday to thedestinyschild.com and learn more.
07:11And again, just to set the record straight, all is well between Matthew, Tina, his girls, and the
07:17family. All is well, man. All is well.
