00:00Well, as the war in the Middle East spirals, Donald Trump says he wants to finish the job in Iran
00:05before moving on to Cuba.
00:06Without providing further details, the U.S. president also promised further action to tackle rising oil prices and urged Iranian
00:14diplomats around the world to request asylum.
00:19We also urge Iranian diplomats around the world to request asylum and to help us shape a new and better
00:26Iran with great potential.
00:28It's a country with great potential. There's a much better future for Iran. It's now beginning. It's going to be,
00:35I think, a great future.
00:37And the United States will ensure that whoever leads the country next, Iran, will not threaten America or its neighbors,
00:43Israel, anybody.
00:45Well, for more on these latest remarks, let's cross live again to Washington.
00:50We can speak with our correspondent there, Fraser Jackson.
00:53Fraser, another busy day for both yourself and the U.S. president.
00:57A little earlier on, he was telling us he wanted to say, in deciding Iran's next supreme leader, he's now
01:04warning diplomats to take cover.
01:05What's the very latest?
01:09Yeah, well, fresh off of those comments that he must be personally involved in the choosing of the new Iranian
01:14leader,
01:14Trump is now saying that Iran is calling him and wants to make a deal.
01:18But, of course, he has said that before, and that has been refuted by the Iranians.
01:22But Donald Trump saying, I'm once again calling on all members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, the military and the
01:28police to lay down their arms.
01:30They're only going to be killed.
01:32He says, you'll be perfectly safe with total immunity or you'll face absolutely guaranteed death.
01:38So strong words there for the Iranian security forces from the president.
01:41He also had words for the Iranian diplomats around the world, though, saying,
01:45we also urge Iranian diplomats around the world to request asylum and to help us shape a new and better
01:52Iran with great potential.
01:54Well, Sharon, in the last few minutes, I've been speaking to some international diplomats,
01:58some sources who seem to rebuke Donald Trump's idea here, saying that most of the Iranian diplomats abroad are IRGC
02:05political appointees.
02:06Again, remember, many countries see the IRGC as a terrorist organization.
02:12One source pointing out that given how many foiled Iranian-led assassination plots have happened on their soil,
02:18it's unlikely that their government would get on board with this idea.
02:21What another source is seemingly poo-pooing Donald Trump's idea, simply saying we don't respond to hypotheticals.
