An American Christmas Carol (1979) is a Depression-era retelling of Dickens' A Christmas Carol starring Henry Winkler as Benedict Slade, a ruthless New England businessman. On Christmas Eve 1933, after firing his clerk, Slade is visited by three ghosts resembling people he just repossessed, showing his past, present, and bleak future.
