00:00I'm going to do it for you.
00:01Are you ready?
00:01I want a bra!
00:03A bra, a bra, a bra, a bra.
00:05Hey, Harper's Bazaar.
00:07I'm Hilary Duff, and today I'm going to be answering
00:10your burning questions.
00:12Ready?
00:13What early 2000s trend needs to stay in the past?
00:17MySpace top eight.
00:19That is so problematic.
00:21Like, no one needs to know how you're rearranging your friend
00:24group or that you're, like, off the up.
00:27Staying in the past.
00:28What would be your number one right now?
00:30I can't answer that.
00:32Honestly, I have a top eight, and, like, they're all equally
00:35valuable players.
00:36What is my favorite meme of myself?
00:39I have to go with With Love Dance.
00:41I think that maybe I've finally reclaimed it in a way that I'm,
00:45like, loving it and having fun with it.
00:47Something that used to, like, embarrass me on a tragic,
00:50horrible level is fun and funny to me now.
00:55What's a look that you loved at the time but would never
00:57wear again?
00:58This is so hard because so many trends are back.
01:00And I want to say, like, my, like, Frankie B or, like, bubblegum
01:03pants that are, like, pleather and low rise and, like, wild colors.
01:07But I can't say I'm never going to do that again.
01:09So maybe, like, trucker hats?
01:12Probably I'm never revisiting.
01:13I did a lot of newsboy apps.
01:15I'm not sure I'm going back there.
01:17But never say never.
01:18What's one beauty hack that you swear by?
01:20My makeup artist just taught me this trick.
01:23When you're putting on your foundation, you rub a little off of your nose so your actual skin
01:30skin and, like, freckles can shine through.
01:33It tricks the, like, average eye into thinking you have, like, less of a face of foundation on.
01:40And I am V into it.
01:43How likely are you to bring back Stuff by Hilary Duff?
01:46I'm just a little busy right now.
01:48But baby teas are back.
01:50I do have some of the items.
01:52They didn't hold up great.
01:54I don't know if I stored them so well.
01:56I think one is in Mei Mei's closet, my four-year-old.
01:59It's a tea with, like, my face on it.
02:01And it says Stuff by Hilary Duff in some really scrolly cursive.
02:04It's honestly kind of sick.
02:06Any beauty advice I wish I didn't follow?
02:10Micro plating my brows.
02:12I wish I never did it.
02:13I used to have, like, a glue pen, basically, that would just, like,
02:18draw them on.
02:18And, like, they were waterproof.
02:20So you could go swimming in the ocean and still have, like, gigantic eyebrows.
02:24It was something nightmares are made of.
02:26What's one song that almost made the set list for your small room's big nerves tour?
02:30There's a song called Anywhere But Here.
02:32It almost made it instead of Someone's Watching Over Me for, like, this slower kind of moment.
02:36That could still make it into the set list.
02:39I can't wait to, like, rearrange an ad, too, for the bigger shows.
02:43It's going to be really fun.
02:45And then, honestly, Breathe In, Breathe Out almost made it but didn't.
02:49There's probably quite a few that I don't want to perform again.
02:53We could start with The Math.
02:55We could follow up with The Girl Can Rock.
02:56But I'm not going to say no or never because they have been highly requested by fans.
03:04It's going to be, like, me making peace with the With Love dance.
03:07I'm just going to have to find a way.
03:08What's the most surprising place you've heard your music playing?
03:12Anne and Jack Tai is, like, an amazing restaurant in Los Angeles.
03:15Depending on the night, they play, like, 90s hip-hop or, like, early 2000s pop music.
03:21And it'll be, like, for the night, that's what they're sticking to.
03:23I was with Mandy Moore.
03:24We heard Candy and we heard So Yesterday in one sitting.
03:29And it was very exciting.
03:30And then I always hear it at Ralph's grocery store.
03:33Like, always.
03:34I don't know if they see me in there and they're like,
03:37always at the Ralph's by my house.
03:39Which of your songs deserves more credit than it gets?
03:42Sparks.
03:43I think, hands down, the internet would tell you Sparks.
03:46I think I agree.
03:47Is it true that you've passed on Since You've Been Gone?
03:50I read this on the internet the other day and someone was like,
03:53her voice wasn't good enough to sing this song.
03:55And I was like, oh, my God.
03:57You're right.
03:58Kelly Clarkson, nobody can top you.
04:01But I don't remember passing on this song.
04:04One, because of that reason.
04:05I mean, Ice Cream sing this song in my car to this day.
04:08Could have.
04:09Could have been the case.
04:11But I don't remember that.
04:12There was some Charlie XCX stuff that was like,
04:15oh, she passed on Boom Clap, which I also don't remember.
04:19Internet lore, you know?
04:21What's one Lizzie McGuire moment that lives rent-free in your head?
04:25I'm gonna do it for you.
04:26Are you ready?
04:27I want a bra.
04:29A bra, a bra, a bra, a bra.
04:31I want a bra.
04:34When I shot that, I was 13 years old.
04:38Probably had, like, little boobies.
04:40And was like, I want a bra, too, girl.
04:43But I am so embarrassed to say this in front of my entire crew.
04:46And I had to say it loud and over and over and over again.
04:49And now I love it and it's so sweet.
04:51And I can't wait for my kids to scream that at me.
04:53I'm gonna be like, ah!
04:55Just like the mom.
04:56Bra shopping, let's go!
04:58Did you ever think your anti-gay bullying commercial
05:01would continue to be viral almost 20 years later?
05:03It has so many likes because it's one, like, very silly.
05:09But the concept is so, like, heartfelt and real.
05:12I think it's, like, endearing and sweet and, you know,
05:14standing up for something that you believe in
05:17and on the right side of history.
05:19Oh, that's so girl wearing a skirt as a top.
05:23I don't know who wrote the girl wearing a top as a skirt,
05:25but honestly, chef's kiss.
05:27What was the most memorable part of playing
05:29Olivia Burke on Gossip Girl?
05:30Probably the threesome was the most standout moment.
05:35I remember being like,
05:36oh, my mom's gonna call me after this one.
05:40I was in Paris not too long ago and my bag got lost.
05:43I went up to the lady who worked at the airline
05:45and she's like, are you on Gossip Girl?
05:47Yes. Love, that's how you know me.
05:51Which celebs were in your Ledoux crew back in the day?
05:54These were the days of, like, Laguna Beach people
05:58were always there.
05:58Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, like, all the crews had their tables.
06:04My crew was, like, a little more normcore.
06:07It was, like, dancing on tables and packed to the brim
06:10and tears in the toilet at the end of the night kind of vibes.
06:14It was multiple times that me and my friends would get, like,
06:18snuck through the kitchen to leave because police were coming in,
06:21which feels absolutely wild.
06:24What's one rumor you've read about yourself that made you laugh?
06:26I once read a positive one that said I was a good tipper,
06:29and I appreciated that one.
06:32Who was your favorite on-screen love interest?
06:34I think I'm going to say Erin Carter.
06:37I was just at, like, peak age of a kiss being exciting,
06:41and we were so silly and dumb and, like, young that it just felt very, like,
06:47innocent and, like, butterflies and all of those feelings.
06:52Also, like, not a love interest, just, like, a kiss.
06:54What's one question you hope to never be asked again?
06:57Like, mmmmm.
07:00Maybe, like, how did you end up okay?
07:04Who or what inspired your tour looks?
07:06When you first look at, like, my mood boards for early,
07:10before tour started, it was a little more, like, bohemian.
07:13And it's, thank God, kind of shifted into this more, like,
07:17pastel-y, shiny, dream sequence-esque vibe,
07:22which has made me feel really joyous and happy,
07:26but also, like, myself on stage.
07:30Making the record, I always knew I was going to go on tour.
07:34I knew those things were going to, like, belong together.
07:38And that was, like, end goal, is, like, being on tour,
07:41being on the road, being on stage.
07:42And it really scared me, but I wanted that,
07:45and I, like, visualized that and saw that happening.
07:48I did not, however, see it happening, like, on this level.
07:51I thought maybe I would be doing
07:53Small Room's Big Nerves Tour forever.
07:55What's the easiest part of collaborating
07:56with your husband, Matthew Koma?
07:58He's the easiest person to be around.
08:02I want to hang with him all day long,
08:03so that's the best part is just getting extra, like,
08:06time in the day with him that we get to be together.
08:09He can see things for me that I can't see for myself,
08:11and that really helps, like, move this thing along,
08:15and it's really comforting.
08:17Thank you so much for watching,
08:19and be sure to check out my new album, Luck or Something.
