00:00Probably the biggest changes, are the biggest changes since I've been in Formula 1.
00:03As drivers, we adapt. That's what we do.
00:06How long have you got? It's a massive overhaul of the regulations.
00:16The regulation shift is monumental. I mean, it's the biggest regulation shift I think our sport has seen, at least
00:26in my time.
00:27But every single time that it has been a shift into a new regulation, it's been a massive challenge.
00:33Everyone starts from scratch. So it really levels the playing field.
00:36From a driving perspective, there's going to be a lot of changes.
00:40I think in terms of managing the power unit and the battery, that's going to be an element that we've
00:46not had to pay so much attention to before.
00:49So that's going to be the biggest difference and how we have to change our driving to adapt to that
00:54is probably the biggest, biggest change.
00:55The engine is more what we're talking about at the moment, because essentially, to kind of keep things simple, there
01:02is more reliance on battery power than ever before.
01:05It's a 50-50 split between the internal combustion engine and the battery.
01:10So that's the main thing, is that it's basically bringing potential different driving styles to Formula 1.
01:18Formula 1 has always been that sport where you don't want to kill what Formula 1 is about.
01:24And you have these amazing technical marvels and all these amazing, exciting things, like DAS or whatever that we had
01:31in previous years.
01:33They're amazing to watch, but they're not amazing to watch when a team dominates every single race.
01:38I think you need to go in with an open mind because we have been driving a lot on the
01:42simulator, but until you drive the car properly at different circuits, understanding what the challenges are, understanding the new power
01:50unit with the overtake mode, the boost button, hopefully it's going to produce better racing for everyone to enjoy at
01:56home.
01:56Whenever there's a big regulation change, there's always huge opportunities, who spots what and which one is the ultimate, it
02:05proves to be the correct solution.
02:07On one hand, very excited, because it's a completely new set of regulations, which means all the teams and all
02:13the drivers will start from a clean sheet of paper, where we want to maximize that opportunity to the best
02:19of our abilities.
02:20More power and less grit, so understanding what driving styles are needed, how I need to adapt inside the car,
02:26what I need to be trying to feel for differently or exploring differently.
02:30Big challenge, excited for it, already obviously done a few days in the car and felt pretty decent, but plenty
02:36more things to explore.
