Iranian drones strike Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan international airport

In a major escalation of the ongoing Iran war, Tehran's drones have targeted the passenger terminal of the airport in Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan and a school near the village of Shakarabad, close to the border with Iran. Tehran has since denied involvement in the incident.

00:01At least two people were injured on Thursday after Iranian drones targeted the passenger terminal of Azerbaijan's Nakhchifan International Airport.
00:11Authorities told Euronews one drone directly struck the airport, while another fell near a school in the village of Shakarabad.
00:19In a statement, the foreign ministry condemned the Iranian strikes on civilian areas,
00:24and have in turn summoned Iran's ambassador to provide an official explanation as soon as possible.
00:31They also added that they, quote,
00:33reserve the right to take necessary retaliatory measures in response to the incident, which they say violates international law.
00:41Videos released by Baku show extensive damage to the airport's interior and exterior.
00:47Iran has not acknowledged targeting its northwestern neighbor,
00:50but its attacks have spread erratically, involving regional countries and beyond.
00:57Nakhchifan is territorially separated from the rest of Azerbaijan,
01:01wedged between mainland and Armenia, and accounts for about 6% of the country's landmass.
