00:00Todd Meadows, one of the stars of the hit fishing reality show Deadliest Catch, has
00:04died. He was 25. The tragic details surrounding the death have been revealed. A spokesperson
00:09for the U.S. Coast Guard told Page Six that on February 25th, just after 5 p.m. local
00:14time, watchstanders at the Arctic District Command Center in Juneau, Alaska were notified
00:20by the fishing vessel Aleutian Lady that 25-year-old Meadows, a crew member, had fallen overboard
00:26approximately 170 miles north of Dutch Harbor. We're told Meadows was recovered from the
00:31water by crew members about 10 minutes later. He was unresponsive, so they administered first
00:37aid and attempted to resuscitate him, but were unsuccessful. The crew then transported Meadows'
00:42body to Dutch Harbor. The Coast Guard spokesperson added that the organization is currently investigating
00:48the situation, as it does with all marine casualties and accidents, to uncover their causes and
00:53initiate necessary corrective actions. Captain Rick Shelford announced the rookie deckhand's
00:58death in a heartbreaking Facebook post over the weekend, describing it as the most tragic
01:03day in the history of the Aleutian Lady on the Bering Sea. Notably, the Bering Sea is known
01:08for its shallow depth, volatile weather, and extremely cold sea temperatures, making it one
01:14of the most dangerous bodies of water in the world. In his post, Shelford referred to Meadows,
01:18who was the newest member of their crew, as a brother. His love for fishing and his strong
01:24work ethic earned everyone's respect right away. His smile was contagious, and the sound
01:29of his laughter coming up the wheelhouse stairs or over the deck hailer is something we will
01:33carry with us always. Todd's love for his children, his family, and his life was evident in everything
01:38he did. He worked hard, loved deeply, and brought joy to those around him. Shelford noted that his heart
01:45is broken in a way that words can't fully express, before asking everyone to lift Todd's children and
01:51family in prayer and keep them in your thoughts as they face the days ahead without him. He concluded,
01:58Todd will forever be part of this boat, this crew, and this brotherhood. Though we lost him far too soon,
02:04his legacy will live on through his children and in every memory we carry of him. Rest easy, brother,
02:10till we meet again. Sources previously told TMZ that Meadows died in a fishing-related incident
02:15during filming. While a GoFundMe later said up in his name, elaborated that he was
02:19crabbing out on Alaskan waters. It's unclear whether Discovery Channel cameras caught the ordeal on tape.
02:25The network said in a statement,
02:27We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Todd Meadows. This is a devastating loss,
02:32and our hearts are with his loved ones, his crewmates, and the entire fishing community
02:36during this incredibly difficult time. Meadows' loved ones who launched the GoFundMe page asked
02:41for donations to help support his three boys, assist with funeral expenses, and help ease the financial
02:47burden in the months ahead. Other Deadliest Catch stars who have died in recent years include
02:52Nick McLashen, Nick Mavar, Maylon Reyes, and Blake Painter.
