An extraordinary moment was captured when a humpback whale surfaced and created a rainbow using it’s blow hole.
The sighting was filmed by Deep Blue Tours in Drake Bay, Costa Rica, as the whale exhaled and sunlight caught the spray perfectly.
The colourful arc formed briefly in the mist before disappearing just as quickly as it appeared.
The rare optical effect highlights how timing, light and nature can combine to create a fleeting spectacle at sea.
