00:04British rapper Goetz was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Tuesday
00:09for killing a Nepali student in a hit-and-run while driving over the legal alcohol limit.
00:15The 41-year-old artist, whose real name is Justin Clark Samuel,
00:20received the sentence at London's Old Bailey,
00:23after pleading guilty to causing the death of 20-year-old Yubin Tamang in North London last year.
00:29Prosecutors said Clark Samuel had been drinking before driving his BMW M5
00:34nearly 70 miles per hour, running red lights before the crash.
00:39He did not stop at the scene.
00:42The judge also banned him from driving for 17 years
00:45and said he must pass an extended test before getting his license back.
00:50In a letter read to the court by his lawyer, Clark Samuel said,
00:54I am fully aware that there are no number of apologies that I can say
00:58which will stop the pain that the family and friends of Mr. Tamang must feel.

01:03This young man and his family are in my thoughts daily.
01:06I cannot express the enormous feeling of guilt and shame I feel for the suffering I have caused.
